Bought a new bulb for my 98 Tourer. This is the original bulb I planned on changing in 05 when I bought the bike. Couldn't wait to see the difference, still waiting. Changed the bulb which is a 64/67 Phillips, package is in the garage I'll check the numbers tomorrow.
I lost high beam. Before doing a major rebuild I stuck the old bulb in the socket and no high beam. I had it when I started. Stuck my VOM in the socket and only one lead shows 12.05 volts. I shot some contact cleaner in the high / low rocker switch on the bars and worked it both ways several times and still no high beam.
Any suggestions ? I have no trouble parking it in the sun if it ever warms above the 30's. I seldom ride at  night we have a great deer population.

I put one of those 30% brighter lights in mine. I can't tell a difference. I might get one of those high dollar silverish shiners in mine and keep the other as a spare. I guess I was no help to your problem but interested to hear what the problem was as I also have a 98 tourer

I know, I know, you are way smarter than me, but did you accidentally turn the socket the wrong way? It'll fit but no high beam. I've "heard" of this happening. Roll Eyes

Check the output from both leads on the headlight rocker switch.

Go from there!

         Headlight Update !

The bulb is a Phillips 9003 H-4
67/60W I was close.
Thanks for your ideas.

After only a few minutes of looking
at my Valk, she has BRIGHT and low
beams.
I will take full responsibilty for the fix
and the cause of the problem.   Embarrassed
Please don't ask I will not post the real
problem. If any of us meet ask and I will
gladly tell you the whole story.

GreenLantern5 you are right I ask for your ideas and you do deserve an explanation of my fix.

WARNING DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME !

First of all I mentioned I had high beam when I started the bulb change. After the change still standing at the front of the bike I reached back and turned on the key and the light came on. Turned it off and placed the light in the bucket. Reached back again turning the light on it works. Now I'm facing the back of the bike and using my left hand (like facing the front of the bike) I push the rocker and no brights ! What is wrong here ? Before I start changing things I pull the new bulb and put the old bulb back in the socket, no bright beam.
This proves the "Kill Switch" does not have any effect on your headlight   low / high beam.
Not for an instant did I notice I was dealing with the wrong rocker switch   Embarrassed  I opened that switch twice and gave it a squirt of cleaner. I was stumped. Stopped for the day and posted to this site about my project.
Ricky-D your post did it, after reading I told myself you know that start at one end and trace the wire testing where possible. Walking up to the bike I saw the dimmer switch sitting there on the other handlebar untouched  Embarrassed  I mumbled a couple of profanities at myself and said no way will I ever tell anyone what I have been doing.  That switch did work.

Don't sweat it.  I used to work on big alarm systems.  One day I spent a total of 8 hours troubleshooting a short that was merely a keyswitch turned the wrong way.   uglystupid2

I NEVER did that again..........
