Gas Mileage and Batwing

Anyone have a batwing on their Valk? I've been running one for a couple of years, and recently had to remove it for some work. I put my Memphis Shades windshield on, and my gas mileage seems to have jumped noticably. Anyone have any thoughts?

Your driving slower due to more air turbulence?
I don't know I agree my mileage is a bit better with the front fairing than without one. Slightly more than with the straight windshield.
I think it all boils down to aerodynamics.
I get my worst mileage when no shield at all.

I took my windshield off and put a Woodys fairing on last summer. I did not notice any difference between the two. (But keep in mind I bought my wife a Valkyrie trike at the same time and my riding by my self days ended.)

My batwing has been on about 4 years now and really did not notice any difference in mileage from my honda windshield. usually average over 40mpg on back road trip and limited throttle twist(no fun) Front fork wings really help on wind buffeting and so do the side wings which you can open for more air

Windshield in picture is a 6". Put a 12" recurve from clearview on due to buffeting with 1/2 helmet. 12" took care of problem but top of windshield hit me at eye level (6' 4"). So Santa brought me a 15" recurve from Clearview for Christmas but have not ridden since I installed it. Spring is almost here.

Windshield is a Klock werks got it from evil-bay . Not sure if they make them for non harley fairings. I also have a similar and taller one that National Cycle is making now. but will have to re-try it with my new ultimate seats to see if I sit taller than my corbin seat the top edge was at eye level. The klock works does a good job and have used it for 2 seasons now but is pricey. I think it was around buck30.

I have a batwing on my 98 Std. and never noticed any change in mileage. 37-38 mpg.
I have the 12" windshield on mine and love it.
