I found this kinda interesting ....  With the average age of the motorcycle rider now in the late 40's and many aging baby-boomer's in their sixties, which one would be more attractive ?? (check out the price)

Good comparison!   The roof leaks on the GW although both have air bags, that evens it up.   Grin Grin  If I had the dough and was given the choice, the Miata would win, hands down..................And I'd still ride the Vstrom  cooldude

You need to go to an SCCA SOLO 2 event and see how many girls are racing Miatas. {NONE} I'd love to get an MX5 when I no longer need a pickup.

I'd take the Miata as well...it's a bit warmer in those winter months...these old bones would like that..but then I'd want to put a chevy v8 in it...and go like hell..

yeah olddog.  I remember shoehorning a V-8 Chevy 350 into a MG Midget.  Laughing my butt off watching the wheels leaving the ground as she idled.  There is nothing a little horsepower will not help along, even at a higher rate of speed Grin

IMHO from the realistic side of it, the Miata is a well balanced sports car with fully adjustable upper and lower A arms at each wheel  and a lot of engineering went into it.  I speak from experience when I say it can be made into a superb handling car with the many mods out there.  An intercooled turbocharged Miata will still keep the inherent handling ability and, while not a super tiger, 180+ hp at the rear wheels in a 2300 pound car is not too bad.   Probably all this could be done for about $5,000.

I most certainly wish that I could've kept mine but I've reached the point where I'm having some of the effects of being laid off from a job. Increased cost of living and a fixed income ( actually losing out) is cramping my style.

I would rather have a Toyota MR2!  Mid engine, convertable 5 or 6 speed depending on year and option.  33 MPG highway. JMHO

I also thought if I can't ride the valk anymore and before I buy a trike I would buy a Miata.  I bought a 97 Sebring convertible last year for our daughter and before she started driving it in the summer my wife and I put on 5000 miles crusing with the top down every chance we got.  Heat and A/C yea the Miata for sure. cooldude

*Sniff* Making me miss mine... a MR2 was my primary vehicle for 20 years, first a 1988 normally aspirated, then a 1993 turbo that we'd had tweaked up a bit... Tiny little two seater with almost 300 horsepower was a BLAST...

Finally got to the point where I couldn't afford to keep a 1993 rare Toyota (Parts were hard and expensive to get) with 200,000 miles on it at a level I needed for daily driver, so had to sell it...

Being 5'19" tall, I got the funniest looks when I'd get outta it too!

I'll take the wing - more fun to ride, and will most likely retain its value better then the Mazda.

How about a like new used Std, IS and Tourer for the $27,000 and get some change back.

That would be my choice.

I have a friend in San Diego with a 351-C inna MGB.
I've been stupid, and I've been fast, but those are stupid fast.
Probably get the Miata. Already have a Valk.

Anyone know if a trailer hitch can be had for the Miata ??  I could see pulling a small MC cargo trailer or tent trailer and be gone for a few weeks ....

I got one for my Mini Cooper (it plugs into an adapter, goes on and off in less than a minute), and
got the Mini wired for a trailer last time I took it in for service...

One day I hope to pick one of these up in Georgia...

http://www.jwww.com/razor/

The Mini is supposed to be able to tow 1400 lbs...

Here's some Miata towing info: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=278487

SS: My tent trailer weighs about 425lbs. The Valk had minor issues but MPG's went in the toilet. The bigger issue would be wind resistance. The Little Joey is 450 lbs empty. Add 100 lbs for gear.

This is the kind of cargo trailer I was thinking of or a tent trailer of similar size. My Valk pulls it just fine so I can't imagine a Miata would have a problem either.

I would think the trailer behind the Miata would have less wind resistance than behind a Valk.

What I didn't say was that maybe some kind of extra braking system might need to be included.....although it'd have to work SMOOTHLY and not affect the bike...and yep, mileage would suffer a lot I'm sure....just like with most any vehicle that pulls a trailer....

I had a Chrysler LeBarron convertible when I was first dating my wife.  That was an excellent car, digital dash, sports package, turbo, 2.2 liter engine, 5 speed manual.  That was an excellent car…..  traded it for the ’99 ford Windstar minivan we still have……  funny thing, I paid $7 grand for it used, had an engine fire and collected $3500 from the insurance, fixed up the things that melted, then traded it in for the van and got $4000 trade in credit!!

Convertibles are great fun cars!!!  Many good memories with that car!!
