I created a simple script on my Linux box when I quit smoking to give a public reminder of how long I'd made it (And also to have buy in from all my friends on various forums to help encourage me to stay quit, knowing I'd hafta reset that counter if I had a smoke.)

Over the years, I've set up a few others on my site for other people, but it's all hosted on a server in my house, using some rather crude kludges to make it work (Any real coder would cry if they saw the spaghetti mess of code and scripts that ties it all together.)

Anyway... Purpose of this post, just discovered a nice clean website with a simple interface so anyone can add this simple little image to their signatures. It might sound silly, but I found having this counter on my posts REALLY helped me stay quit, knowing I'd hafta fess up to a lot of people if I fell off that wagon...

No ties to this site, just discovered it tonight, but so far I'm very impressed with the setup. Impressed enough to switch off my home brew solution to their much slicker one.

Since my last cigarette...

According to your new counter you've  almost saved enough money to buy a nice used Valk.  Smiley

Keep up the good work.  cooldude

Yeah, I noticed that too... What's REALLY sad is that that dollar amount is based on the $3 a pack or so when I quit, not the $5 a pack or so now!  Cheesy

Ok Serk.... I relieve you of your duties as keeper of my Last Cigarette Counter.  Thank you for your service.   Wink

I liked yours because is was simple, small and accurate, but this new one will work ok and hopefully as well as yours has.

Thanks again.....

LOL! If you wanna keep using mine, I'll leave it running, at least until something breaks on my server or internet connection or something of the like...

In fact, being the lazy type I am, I'll prolly leave it running for quite some time just because that's easier then turning it off...  2funny
