It is with great sadness that I write this. I had my Valk for 6 years and she like a member of the family. However times change and it is time to move on. My son will be 5 this year and the wife and I are not getting out on the Valk like we did before my son was born. And I guess that is to be accepted. So I decided to sell the bike. She went to a nice couple in Salt Lake City. I have told them about the VRCC and they told me they will join. I have a great time with this club and learned a lot about the bike. I want to thank all of you for your friendships over the years. A few of you even came out to visit a few times. Now the hunt is on for a new ride. It may take some time but I will find something.

Been there, done that. My wife was pregnant with our now 7 year old when I sold my first Valk. I didn't know about this club at the time. Had I known, that bike would still be in my garage with all sorts of bling cheaper than what I paid for it this time around!!! It took four years for me to decide (convince my wife  Evil) that I needed another one. I will not get rid of this Valk for anything. Good luck with your search and someday you will come back  Grin!

I don't understand something here. You said the hunt is on for a new ride, so you're not giving up riding....just the Valk?? So why give up the Valk then. We have all seen pictures of your bike, it's a classy looking ride. Just wondering is all, I don't ride as much as I used to either but I have a reason also.....I'm older. But I still ride and do so quite often.

I guess, to some, "new" matters more?   Roll Eyes

"And I guess that is to be accepted."

Like that line. Sounds enthusiastic... Grin

If you are like many of us who took a break because of the kids, your hunt for the new ride will take...oh... 12 to 15 years. Been there, done that, got the wet diaper.
I still remember selling my last bike at that stage and buying a snowblower instead. Followed by long years of drooling over bikes silently, dreaming of the day...
Having lived through it, my advice is that you put your foot down and say 'yes, honey'. Shocked

John, this part confused me too. I read his post as to believe he had to give up riding, thus selling the Valk. Then it got to the part about hunting a new ride. Undecided

Personally, I can't imagine getting rid of a perfectly good Valkyrie to buy something different. But, to each his own. I've been waiting to see what his answer to that would be but maybe he doesn't come back here now that the Valk is gone.

I've had quite a collection of motorcycles before I met my wife, and the collection just kept getting bigger as I became a dad. I did get rid of two "project" bikes when I could no longer fit all of them into our storage shed and/or the garage.

My daughter was my favorite passenger as soon as her legs could reach the passenger pegs. As a matter of fact there were times she'd beg me to take her to a Girl Scout meeting on my bike. It made her a celebrity within her Troop. She also enjoyed being taken to Soccer practice and games on the bike.

Being a responsible rider/parent is a way to get closer to your kids. As a matter of fact I bought her a scooter as soon as she was old enough to ride (but we had strict rules regarding how it is to be used).

I understand.  That bein said when my daughter came along I picked up a 1966 Buick Skylark convertable. I'm a mechanic kinda guy and got a great deal on a fixerupper. Read, wifes pissed.
By the time the kid was ready, so was the car. Wife still pissed about it. Top down, mountain roads, kid sleepin,me smilin. When the time came I sold it for enough to get a NEW CB750 and have enough left over to get more crap.
