Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.

On a road less traveled.

Hey my Shocks went south for good the other day and it was recommended that I go with air adjustable shocks, so I ordered a set of Progressive 416's and am awaiting delivery. Now the question, any of you ride these? What is your opinion of them? let me hear it, the good the bad and the ugly, any information is appreciated

The Progressive tech guy that used to monitor this board - forgot his name - said you can add fluid to increase the compression rate.  It's ATF fluid.  I did that, and found the load bearing capacity increased to carry what I needed - 2-up and the Clampett's camping gear.  I have set mine up with a compressor which allows me to change the preload on the fly.  Handy - heading into the twisties, increase the preload to add cornering clearance, also stiffening it up for less compressing while throwing the bike quick through connected curves.  Also use it when approaching a big bump on a bridge - then dial it back down.  The 416's have a large "sweet spot" since it can be set for the exact weight needed.  This gives it an incredibly cushy ride. You might want to buy a rebuild kit from Progressive and store in your parts bin.  After several years the kit will let you rebuild them back to new condition if the seals start leaking. Had the 440's on my bike till they started leaking. I wasn't the orginal owner so I did  not have a reciept. So for less than the price they wanted to rebuild  I put on the 416's.  Over a year and a half and love them. cooldude

Resistance is futile; if less than 1 ohm.

I've had my 416's for over a year now and I'm happy with them.  Very handy when I change from single rider to two up and even more so when it involves luggage.  I haven't gotten the onboard compressor yet, but it is on the list.  Very comfy ride.
