I told Stanley Steamer that 178 was his best bet to get up to hwy 11 from I85...

I was to meet Henry in Pickens... Henry gets to Pickens on 178, when I got there both
Henry and Stanley were there...

We took off to the meeting place at Cleveland, right after we got there Craig (flatsixrider)
showed up.

Soon after Gary and his son showed up and we took off:

By around 3:00 we were at F. Craig, Gary and his son had
peeled off by then and it was Stanley Steamer, Henry and me...

We got the Brasstown BBQ place around 4:30 or so... SS took some pictures there  Grin
It was a good ride, roads weren't crowded but the weather was perfect. Maybe all the
big weather we had around here yesterday kept people from making and plans for
Saturday?

I failed to keep Dennis in the loop, he wanted to go  Embarrassed

I forgot Gary's son's name  Embarrassed  Embarrassed

right after we went seperate ways outside of Toccoa...they were making too much noise(drowned my Enya tunes out) in the lane beside of me at a redlight as if to say"Hey Dude, let's race"...I left them like they were rolling backwards, but they made a heck of a racket doing it... cooldude... Grin....They wouldn't even wave at me when I slowed back down and let them roll on by...LOL...

And thanks for picking such a beautiful route and an even prettier day...couldn't have been better weather for it....and the BBQ was good too....I had enough left for seconds tonight... cooldude

Sorry I missed it, still trying to beat this cough. Violet is threatening to make me go to the Dr. on Monday.

She's taking care of you, don't stay sick...

There's a 215/BRP/107 kind of loop I want to do that could end up
either at the same BBQ place, or better yet,  The Dillard House mmmmmmm.....
We could meet up in Clayton and head out WarWoman. How far is Clayton from you?

Just to entice those who haven't been to the Dillard House, there's a giant room with huge windows
looking out on the mountains, you get seated and they just start bringing really good stuff to your
table until you don't want anymore.

at the tender age of 15, I worked there pulling weeds from the flower beds during summer break....and my Mother worked there preparing their home-grown vegetables and my oldest Sister was a cook there for over 15 years...I got all my eats for FREE back then, but have been there a few times since then on bike trips with various groups..it's a little pricey, but not anymore so than the BBQ sampler I just bought yesterday.... cooldude

Your post about Dillard House reminded me of this place.....

http://www.shatleysprings.com/

I haven't been there in years but it was some of the finest "Country Home Cooking" that I have ever had.

It's off of Rte 16 not far from Jefferson, NC.

Rte 16 is a pretty good ride, I just may have to take a ride that way sometime soon.

I just remembered that while we were on 178 there was a "well prepared, well positioned" man there taking pictures
when we were going through some of the best parts...

So I googled for "motorcycle pictures 178 oconee" and found http://pgwelch.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/759770...
There's a download option on his page, I figured if he was going to stand there and take pictures I ought to
buy a couple...

Henry said on Saturday, "I like it when Mike leads, he goes fast enough that it is fun, and slow enough
that you don't have to drag pegs"  Embarrassed coolsmiley

We were for sure having fun, though!

Clayton is about an hour give or take a few minutes.  Not real big on Dillard House, I've had better food for less money elsewhere. But yeah let's get together and ride.

Hey you are going to Cheaha right? When are y'all coming through this area and what route are you taking?
