Have a 98 tourer and around 45-50 mph on certain roads it get a shimmy or small bounce in the front end. About a rear ago replaced the front fork springs. Wondering if anyone out there has had this happen to them and if so what they did to fix it. Any info would be great.
Thanks,
Tony

Have not had that problem but sounds like it could be a balance issue. Have you lost any weights?
Other than that check the wheel bearings and rotate the wheel and check the tyre for out of round or scalloping.

What to recommend depends on mileage on the bike. If you're getting up there on the ODO, check the steering head bearings. Tire wear/balance could be the issue. Check tightness of all triple tree pinch bolts. Tire pressure: What tire are you running? It might be the rear shock bushings are worn out. They go bad every 10-15K miles. If the rear shimmies, you feel it in the bars. Try the easy stuff before spending $$$.

What is the front tire? I have a Dunlop Elite3, and it gets a little squishy/squiggly at some speeds. Also, I've read a few postings over the last year that suggest looking at the rear shock bushings.

On the rear shock bushings I replace the rear shocks last year with set of progressives. The bike has bridgestones for tires and I run them at 40 lbs.

Is this road smooth?

Have one here in my area that is kind of wash boardie.

I thought I also had a problem till I went over it in my truck.

Turned out to be the highway.

We have a road that does exactly that here in town. Thought something was wrong with my Valk until I rode it on Kim's Valk. Same thing. Turned onto another road, smooth again!
