Does anyone have a setup in a full face helmet that incorporates both ear protection and the ability to listen to music?
thanx,

Check for noise cancelling ear buds. I have a set made by Sony. When you switch on the noise cancelling, everything gets quiet.

Here is another option for you. I have a set of these and I set the volume at level 1. (0 = mute and 10 =loudest) These are just awsome. They molded to fit your ears only and I can wear them for 24 hours without a problem. High quality product.

I use custom-made ear plugs and crank up my helmet speakers. It does a good job of cutting the wind/road noise while still letting you hear your music (or a siren if you need to).

I just purchase a pair of custom ear plugs w/speakers. They are called Tunz Duo ear plugs. They are similar to the Big Ear someone else mentioned. I think I paid $250.00 for them.
When the mold was being made, I asked if the quality of the sound was good. Actually, now that I have them, the sound is much much better than my Bose and Audio Technica products. The Audio Technica are noise canceling but can't keep up with the noise on a motorcycle so it just stops playing.
By the way, Duo means each side has a base speaker vs. base in only one side. So far I haven't had the bike out yet, but I have used them while exercising and they do block out much of the noise and are very comfortable.
Tunz will tell you where to get the mold made.
Good luck, not having to blast the sound to override the wind noise is something I'm looking forward to.

I've been using a variety of earbuds for years. I started cheap with the Koss $17 earbuds from Aerostitch. They were surprisingly good for under $20...then I tired etomic ones using the Koss base and fitting egomic plugs on ... I still use them once in a while.
I've now switched to Sony NC series... the $79 pair is pretty good quality. Had the $99 dollar ones- wore the cords bare. I can't tell much difference, so the $79 pair does just fine.
the beauty of any of these styles is I can run my XM radio right into my ears, keep the volume pretty low and they all cancel about 15- 24 db of outside wind noise.
One side problem with the Sony's odd shape- there are some helmets that fit pretty snug and can press against the ear buds and make 'em uncomfortable. Make sure there's a little hollow space around your ear inside the helmet. My HJC Scymax has removable ear pads inside to make extra space.
Without a helmet they're even better... at freeway speeds, they're dead quiet. Since I'm half deaf anyway, I gotta save what's left and keep the volume low.
