I am in the process of salvaging some parts off of my wife's wrecked Fatboy and converting them to the Valkyrie.  I am adding some passing lamps and turn signals. I had always had issues with blowing fuses but the problem was intermittent so I could never trace it down.  tickedoff

Anyhow, long story short I decided to just pull the old main wire harness out and start over since I found a few spots that the wires had rubbed or had been damaged over the years.

My problem is this:
I've replaced the main harness now and in the headlight bucket there is a Black  9-pin connector.

Coming from the harness there are 8 wires and one blank connector. On the bike side or I guess receiving side the :

Black w/ brown stripe &
Brown w/ white stripe

wires have been jumped together and have melted from too much juice running through them.

I think this is the cause of my fuses blowing.

My problem is I can not find the other ends of these wires to trace where they are suppose to go.

So can anyone shed some light on this and how it is suppose to be?

Hmmm... I see a lot of people have read your post and are probably just as confused as I am about your delima.

Can you post a picture of what you are working on?

A DOM (Digital Ohms Meter) would help you find which wire is going to where thru continuity.

I find wiring is like a freeway, you have a way to get on and need a way go get off. And once in  while there are accidents...

I am up for the challenge so post back some pictures....

Thanks John I figured the same thing for the lack of response.

I have used my digital meter to no avail.  I have a wiring diagram and it appears the wires are to the meters but they seem to be unaffected by the connection and I cant for the life of me think of why someone would want to jump the two.

The Connection I am referring to is from the Main wire Harness connection  in the headlight bucket to the right side/ throttle side housing.  The starter and cut off switch are working but the two wires are missing from the switch side.

I ordered some new switches and harnesses for both the left and right side so basically I am rewiring the entire bike except for the rear end lights.

Hopefully that will remedy the idiosyncrasies I have been having with it.

it's a link to RP Brown's schematics for the Valkyrie.  They are much better than the shop manual, easier to read and figure out where things go.
