HELP!!!!   Angry Just noticed a very small amount of oil under the left side of the old girl.  Further inspection revealed oil appearing to come out of the shifter,  went on line and see a seal in that area.  Could this be the culprit?  Can it be replaced without engine removal?  Anyone else see this happen?  Sad

When mine started leaking I ordered a new one, but while I was waiting for it I cleaned the area real well, thats when I noticed the old seal was protruding ever so slightly from the casing.  So being careful to have it real clean, I tapped it in snuggly.   Long story short, it took over a year to start leaking again and then I finally did change it.

Something like that would probably be more advantageous to get from the local dealer and a lot faster too!

Little story about mine leaking.
While in the Black hills with a friend on a harley attending the VOAI rally, mine started leaking, as most others there were on Valks, no one there had oil with them.  My buddy with the hog had a quart of screamin eagle in his saddle bag that he got with the bike.  I topped off with his oil, and the durned thing quit leaking!  Replaced the seal when I got home, got ribbed the whole trip!   Grin
