I always thought a Road Glide would be the best candidate for a liquid cooled engine.  I picture a chin scoop below the headlights with the radiators mounted inside the fairing.  The fairing sides could have shark louvers for airflow.

Looks like the love child of a Road Glide and a V-Rod.  Not too shabby.

Not a bad looking bike, a couple mods like a larger tank, and a slightly better design on the saddle bags to match the lines and they would have one hell of a nice bike.

IMHO

A small detail, but the fuel tank is under the seat.

Very pretty as I'm sure the price tag would be as well.

Sadly, with the Motor Company's mindset, that's also why you'll probably never see something like that coming outta their factories...

Maybe I'm wrong, hope I am, but....

Recent frame changes to the R. Glide, and I think all dressers ('09?), was (partly) to accommodate future radiators.  Not that they want them, but continuing EPA requirements will eventually.

I have seen a few HOG dressers that have the V-rod engine retrofitted.

When they have something really reliable, more than 2 cylinders, water cooled, for about the $8K I can get a minty Valk for, I may look at it.   When pigs (Hogs) fly!

The '09 touring frame change was mainly to accommodate the new Tri-Glide.  I doubt radiators were even on their mind.

I've ridden a Vrod & if they are going to use that engine in a big cruiser or tourer it will need some revisions. The Vrod is a teenie little thing totally unsuited for "normal" sized adults to tour with, IMHO. The engine is lacking in low end grunt but boy does that sucker come alive when you get the R's up!  Shocked
Poke it, stroke it, re-cam & re-map that sucker & it would make a hellacious big cruiser powerplant.  cooldude Alas, the knuckle draggers would reject that concept out of hand.  Roll Eyes HD probably would name it some lame-azz thing like "Super Deluxe Heritage Hot Potatoe Classic" FXWCHARXLT.  Grin
And of course it would be $65K.  Cheesy
At least they would have something I'd want to look at & ride in their showrooms! All I do now there is buy birthday presents for my brainwashed friends.
Seriously, I would love to see Harley put some good effort into a project like that!

The new Vulcan Vaquero would be a candidate for me if it had a flat six. Looked at one 2 weeks ago sweetbike. Honda needs to make this in a 1800 and I would buy one.   http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/163/8678/Motorcycle-Article/2011-Kawasaki-Vulcan-Vaquero-First-Ride.aspx

My thoughts exactly.  Rode the Concours 1400 today, and if that is as smooth and sounds as good, I may get intrested with the above mentioned mods.
