Can't answer on when/why the other boards finally switched to the more modern format, but I can help on the time thing at least.

Up at the top click Profile
On the left click the "Look and Layout Preferences" link under the "Modify Profile" header
Under the Time Offset you can either click the "auto detect" button, or just manually put the number 2 in there.

Click the Change profile button at the bottom of the page, and the time should be all caught up for ya'...

I'm not clear on what you mean by them using your Texas handle.  If you were registered here after the Texas switch, but before the national switch, you should have had "first dibs" on the handle, and no one could take it.  The national and the Texas board are linked, and registering for one registers you for all.  Did you re-register for some reason?  If so, the person who took your Texas handle was you.  (:

NO. Before the switch I had a handle on the national board and a different handle on the Texas board. Now, after the national switch they took my national handle away and used my Texas handle as both. Comprende?

Got it.
That's a function of having a unified system.  It's only one login for all three boards now.  Therefore, one handle.

Just for the record, nothing was "taken away".  None of the profile information was moved to the new general board.  Different format, large number of idle profiles, etc. combine to make the moving of profiles, and thus handles, impractical.

If you really do want a separate handle for the general (or tech) board (why would anyone want to do that???)  You may simply register for the message board with that different handle.  You'll need to use a different valid email address as well.

Since the boards use the same login, you'll probably confuse yourself by doing that.
