Will a Utopia backrest work with other seats, like the Ultimate King Big Boy for example, or is it just compatable with the stock OEM seats only?
I've read somewhere that it'll work with a Mustang seat with some mods, but I'm thinking of buying a King Big Boy rider and passenger set and was curious about the Utopia.

If you are ordering a new Big Boy seat, why don't you order the backrest already built in?
If is much more of a backrest that my Utopia ever was, and NO, I do not believe it was a waste of $$$$$. At least this backrest from Des will adjust to fit my back better.
Now back to our regular programming.

Anything is possible...
I cut off the lower bracket and welded on a 5/8" square rod to fit the Corbin seat... drilled and tapped the 5/8" square to bolt into seat.... works great and lays down for easy on and off the bike!

Just to add another datapoint, my Utopia works just fine with my Hartco seat...

Sharp Valks guys.......Both of your bikes are pictured solo. Will the Utopia work two-up with the passenger seat mounted too.....or does it just work with the front as a solo set-up?
Also.....is the Utopia removable? Will it come and go as needed, or do you have to un-bolt it for removal? Reading on the Ultimate web site, it looks like if you want to remove the Ulitmate backrest, you'll have to un-bolt it from the bike. I'd rather have something that'll remove easily without having to break out a wrench.

Yes The Utopia it will work with the Ultimate passenger seat . I also have the same seat (King BigBoy) on my Tourer but I'm using the Ultimate backrest on that one(with the OEM passenger seat.) I prefer the Utopia.  |
