What kind of rain gear/riding jacket do you have?

Well I have pulled out our old frogg toggs and I do not think that they are going to make it through another year. While they have serviced us well, I want to see if there is something that may be a little more versatile. With my new work schedule, 4 days on then 4 days off 12 hour shifts. I hope to take some short trips this summer and would like to carry just one jacket instead of a leather and the rain gear. What do you wear?

And I use the liner of my Joe Rocket mesh jacket...

I've been pretty dry after a long wet ride, but cold and miserable because of wet gloves and boots...

I have really good USA made boots, so yesterday I heated them up (just a little) and smeared
beeswax goo into them, I'll probably get to test them on the trip to Texas... I even smeared the beeswax
goo into their goretex panels... I don't know about that, but I don't want cold wet squishy boots...

Got some rain gloves (not covers) too, they seem good, as yet untested.

I also tend to use the liner of my Joe Rocket mesh in the summertime.  When the weather is cooler I use my Joe Rocket Comet.

For pants I still use my Frogg Toggs.

I do get a little wet from time to time, but I don't believe there is much made that will keep a rider completely dry without a windscreen.

I can tell you what not to buy...Road Boss....Bought a brand new set and hit a frog choker New Years Day and was soakin' wet when I got home.... I have some old Nelson / Riggs that was good to me for years ....I've got brand new Strens from Wally World in my saddlebag right now

Being an optimist, I just invested in a Mercury jacket by BMG.  I'm impressed by reports on it.  100% waterproof with a double flap over the zipper.  I have Frogg Toggs pants.  Hot weather, my old reliable First Gear mesh. I also have Diamond Gusset jeans with kevlar.

I have a Joe Rocket Ballistic jacket, leaks like a sieve through the zipper area.

I've been happy with my orange Frogg Toggs....rode almost 500 miles with the Boys to MS a few years ago in a frog strangler and only had a few drops of water run down the back of my neck and around my waist line.....

I have been happy with my Frogg Toggs...ridden many a mile in the rain on my trips to and from Sturgis the last 3 years with them on and haven't gotten too wet...but they're starting to get "fuzzy" and I melted a hole in one pants leg on the exhaust....saw these new Frogg Toggs this winter @ Gander Mountain and will be getting a set soon...kinda pricey, but I think these will last a LONG time...

Thanks alot Dave this post just cost me $130.00 plus ....I'll be looking at getting these as well ....Truth be known in the last 6 months I've spent about that much on rain gear and now have Wally World specials in my saddlebag

Frogg Togges in the saddle bag.

Something i bought from Bass Pro, that had bib pants and jacket in the Trike.   Don't remember the brand, but so far no water through them.

Froggs I seem to always drown the boyz, but what the 4377, they have been wet before.

Yea what Joe said. Wally world Sterns.  Had them 4 yrs now and numerous rains and a few SD/NE storms and they performed well. Roll out hood fits nice under your helmet or just tie it like you would a hood. Rolled up they take up small space. I pack mine inside a pr of slip over boots. $20 for the set yrs ago. Plus they are inexpensive to replace. Hate to buy something that cannot be replaced on the road.

Do you mean they will not pull over your boots while putting them on or getting the leg pulled over the boot? Ours have 3 or 4 snaps and its webbed that fit over my boots. We also take our boots off to don our pants.

I have a two piece set of Xelement rainwear I bought on www.leatherup.com for $32.00. It is the best rain suit I've had. I can't believe they can sell clothing for what they do and the quality is great. I have also bought several piece of leather clothing from them.

Inexpensive and they keep you completely dry.  But holy cow, the moment the sun peeks back through, these things get ungodly HOT

Frogg Toggs and a can of Easy Off  , Just keep them away from your pipes. Trust me I know, and easy off did the trick.

My summer travel wardrobe is this: Joe Rocket mesh jacket, Tourmaster Sentinel pants and top. Yellow for better visibility. Waterproof bib around my face. As for getting pants on over boots: Keep a couple of plastic grocery store bags in the saddlebags. Put them on over your boots and the pants will slip right on. If the weather cools off too much, a Polartech top goes under the JR jacket.

A $12 tyvek painters suit from Lowes works OK, and isn't too hot because Tyvek breaths...

I have a rain jacket and some rubberised pants from Work Warehouse. I don't know if they work cause any time I've needed them I'm wet already. Leather jacket, chaps and WorkWorld waterproof jeans seem to work OK. I bought a jacket at the bike show this Jan. Supposed to breathe nicely and be waterproof with the liner. I guess I'll find out this year.
If you buy 2 ironing board covers and cut/sew them like panels on the inside of the lower legs, they won't melt to your pipes...

If its a hot day I dont usually bother with the frogg togg top but my wife wears hers

I find that just using the mesh jacket is fine so I get wet, wet can be nice if its hot and I wear the mesh all year long in NY  it dries in an hour or so on the road at highway speed

If its cold then I will add an old joe rocket liner that has the fleece inside

my boots are waterproof  I am lookin for a nice summer weight waterproof glove

if its gonna rain all day I put the solid piece of the baker air wings back on also

I have, and really like my, Frogg Toggs    They are easy to pack, don't take up much room, and they are always in my saddle bags.  For day to day riding, and possibly getting caught in a quick cloud burst, I love 'em.

Now, on the other hand, if I'm on a long ride (for more than a day or two), I love my 'First Gear' jackets...  Both the Mesh Jacket (used for warm weather), and the Textile 3/4 length jacket (for much cooler weather) have waterproof liners.  Both have armor, and fit well enough to want to wear them.  The First Gear brand is one of the few that offer 'tall' sizes, and the 2XLT fits like a glove.  I also have the First Gear mesh pants, and they too have the waterproof liner.

As others have said, it is almost impossible to find something that will keep you bone dry, but the First Gear stuff I have gets the job done, for an affordable price.  Look at 'NewEnough.com' for some smokin' deals...

I kicked the crotch out of my Frog Toggs when I tried them. I still stick with my leather jacket.  Good gloves that clog up the sleeves and a neck wrap that comes close to filling in my neck area and I get by.

I have a rainliner for my mesh Fieldsheer and usually just throw on the chaps; I like them better than rain pants.
