Hello all. I own a 2000 Tourer with 47,000 miles. I do not have a question this time but rather wanted to share my carb rejet experence with everyone. My Valks engine is stock except for a complete desmog I did last year. The motor was popping through both exhusts on decel even after the desmog. The idle would roll between 900 and 1100 rpm. I checked and replaced all vac lines with no improvement noted. The carbs would not sync closer then about two inches of vac to each other. Also the motor lack grunt or pull below 3600 hundred rpm. I tried Seaform and B-12 with just a little improvement. I then took the carb bank out and upon taking the float bowls off observed that the bottoms of the bowls were covered in a light brown rusty colored film. Also all six low speed jets were partially clogged. I used Valvoline spray carb cleaner to clean every thing up except the jets. I used the factory pro kit and replaced the low speed jets with their #38 jets. I also followed their instructions and replaced the front two cyls with #95 jets and the rear four cyls with their #98 jets. After replacing the needle jets with their needle jets, I put everything back together again, adjusting the pilot screws to 2.5 turns out. Upon starting and warming the motor up, I was able to sync the carbs to within .5 inches of each other. The motor runs smooth and strong at all rpms with no flat spots. I do not know if this jet kit will lower miles per gallon or not. I do not work for factory pro, in fact I live in Alabama. I just wanted to share my experences with rejetting my carbs. All in all well worth it. All comments are welcomed.

It took me approximatley 14 hours, however, keep in mind that I am not a bike mechanic. I used the Honda factory manual and read what others had already posted on the topic. I did not have to replace any of the rubber float bowl gaskets as I was able to reuse them. Also I observed that it was much easlier to remove the upper engine mounts to get the carb bank out then it was to try to tie the bank up and do one side at a time. If you remove the upper mounts you do not have to support the engine from below.

I hope you cleaned your gas tank. That rusty stuff most likely came from a rusty tank. 38 slow jets aren't large enough that they won't clog. Golan makes fuel filters that they claim will filter to 6 microns to prevent slow jet clogging by tank crud. I use them and have had no trouble with fuel starvation. No afiliation etc. Of course ethanol will still plug the slows so you still need fuel stailizer.

The kit I used is part number CRB-H78-1.0 Config 10. I used the 1-800 number from Factory Pros wedsite to order the kit. It even came with the special tool to adjust the pilot jets.

CC260.....IV'E BEEN USING FACTORY-PRO KIT'S/JETS/ETC. FOR YEARS NOW, AND HAVE NEVER HAD THE FIRST PROBLEM WITH ANYTHING THAT THEY PRODUCE. I THINK THAT THEIR JETS ARE PROBABLY AS CLOSE TO THE FLOW OF THE STOCK JETS AS ONE COULD GET. GOOD LUCK.

Hello all. Took the big Valk on the interstate today with a full tank of gas. Did 70 miles at between 70 and 80 MPH, (A little faster when passing 18 wheelers). Fueled her up and it took 2.07 gallons. Any way you llok at that it comes out to 35 MPG. When this motor was new I got around 33 MPG. Some folks say larger slow jets will equal less MPG, but that has not been my results in the real world. Again just wanted to share the results of doing a jet kit.

I'm no expert, but the front cylinders will run cooler than the others in normal conditions. This might call for different mixtures. Fred.
