I've read a lot on the 'drill baffles' posts. These ideas would give you More sound.
My unchanged oem tourer pipes give me a lot of drone at highway speed.
Is there anything I can Add to the pipes, to give a little more back-pressure, remove some drone?
Maybe get to a 'wing' sound.

I've had drilled pipes (ugh), unmolested std/tourer pipes (pretty good), am now running std/tourer pipes with triple tips (still real quiet, noticeably louder when going slow and I think probably louder when you get on it) and Interstate pipes (the very quietest - they have longer piggies and longer tips)...
1500 wing headers ought to match up to our engines, might be no place to bolt the rest of it, has anyone ever tried?

Extend your piggies......and buy a pair of longer exhaust tips and cap them with a set of Grumpies exhaust pipe tips. You'll thank me later.

Not to sound like a smart-ass or anything, but wearing a full face (and sometimes a 3/4) will amplify the drone. Trying riding with a 1/2 helmet. There are several high quality half helmets on the market these days......HJC, Scorpion, etc, etc, etc....... 1/2 helmets really do make a huge difference if you've got a drone problem.....it goes away!

Turn up the stereo...oh, yeah; that's the I/S. Long truck stacks will put the sound farther behind you, and they look really cool. Fred.

Guess you want stelth mode ? Yes, Stealth mode would do it. Thanks Wizard Turn up the stereo...oh, yeah; that's the I/S. Thanks Fred.

csj.... There was a thread on here sometime back (don't remember when or where) talking about putting the piggies back on. There was this one fellow that still had some stubs of his piggies left and he used some hard-drawn copper pipe from the hardware store to extend his piggies. Simple to do and easy to work with. Seemed to work for him.

Are you lads saying to Increase the length of my existing, untouched piggies?
A little extra length (how much) would get 'er done? Hmmm.

I just did this mod today. I had bought the 18" long Airflo truck stacks, but to me they looked a bit long on my Standard, so I had a local machine shop cut 2 1/2" off them, then added Grumpy's tips. They looked awesome, and while they didn't make the exhaust louder, it was deeper. Sounded nice, but the significant other was convinced that they were louder, and would bother her on a long ride. Soooo, I followed Sugerbear's advice, and lengthened the piggies with 3/4" copper pipe, soldered to the coupling, but with the coupling attached to the piggies with setscrews. I really like the sound. It's definitely quieter, but still has a nice, authoritative low tone. There's still a mild droning at speed, but clearly less than before, and I wear a full face helmet except in the very hottest of weather. The good news is that if I decide that I want it louder, I can just remove the copper extensions.
