Based on my personal experience.....
- steer clear of Shinko due to last 2 versions (747 and 757) both recalled. - steer clear of Dunlop E3's bad vibrations - Metzlers are very good handling/riding but wear fast - Avon Venoms (now Cobras) I have been very happy with.
I'm sure others will chime in with their experiences as well. Good luck.

Tough call for you, gather the information you get in responses here and throw a dart. One Valk rider I ride with swears by Metzlers (I wouldn't take them for free) Another swears buy the Dunlop E-3. I have felt the same way about those tires, although after seeing his HARD riding and cornering and the milage he gets out of the E-3's, I believe I was making my decision based upon information I gathered here, using others opinions. (I think I was wrong) Although I have never tried them, because I'm very happy with the Avon's for motorcycle tires. I also LOVED the Bridgestone Battle-Axe on the rear, with an Avon on the front. That was the best combo I've tried. I only got 9-10k on the Battle-Axe though. Currently running a C/T rear and an Avon front. Good-Luck with your choice

I appreciate the input . I brought this bike home late last fall , it has Dunlop 251 tires & 40,000 KM The first ride at home the noise was so bad i thought it was motor related ,road side inspection indicated no problems ,back to speed the noise returned. I am not ashamed to admit , i may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer . I was baffled ,until i hit new blacktop and noise disappeared It wouldn't surprise me if these tires were original issue to the bike Thanks again Terry

Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.

As has already been said, a lot of tire choices are personal, I for one like Dunlops, most everybody else hates them, I have yet to have a problem with them, there is a vibration at 35 MPH though but does go away at slower or higher speed, nothing that troubles me. I switched to the E3's last year and so far I am impressed with them (I am sure to start something there!) the wear on them is (so far) excellent and the handling is supreme. Now f you ask another person they will contradict all that I have just said. The best thing to do is to talk to lots of Valk riders and see what they come up with then make your choice. Happy riding

Metzler front Run @ 42 to 46#. Good Year Triple tread rear. Run @ 36#. Ditto!!! Just finished my first Avon front. It was ok but that's about it. Wouldn't have another Dunflop if it was free. Went back to a Metz front and LOVE it!! It sticks better in the rain than the E3 on dry road!!!

Metzlers but they do growl. Only in turns. Dont bother me since my beefy truck truck tires growl anyway.

+1 on the Dunlop E-3 tires. I'm on my third set, as is my son on his Goldwing (he rides more aggressively than I do). They are the best on wet roads, and we've driven in a few monoons. As for noise, you can hear them hum a little when riding the turns at some speed. I'm really pleased with the mileage I get, too.
