Just had a couple of new keys made from locksmith after I lost my spare.  He made it from blank HD75 that is a bit longer than OEM for $2 per blank and key.  I saw some pics on previous posts and wonder what chrome cover any of you used for key and how you secured it.

Here are a couple pics from another post of Joe's of what I am talking about.  Some said they used end of grip, but only grips i have are on the handlebars Sad

And this one made from a chrome cabinet knob.

Go to your local HD dealer and get a sportster axle nut cover. Should cost under $10. Place your key inside the cup that is cut out for the net and fill with two part epoxy.

Chrome lug lut,,, cut/grind the key to fit inside the nut and use epoxy or JB weld to secure it.

Just remember, when ya park it at a Motel or bar, or some not so safe a place, that key will put holes in your leg while it is in your pocket.

Now, if you carry another key in your britches, so as to be able to lock that key in a saddlebag or the trunk, it should be a OK.

I suppose you could take the chance someone won't figure out the key is still there if you leave it in the switch.   My insurance company kind of frowns on the key left in the ignition.

To get around that I have an electric fuel shutoff that I use when parking.   My key is in a Gold Wing radio knob, I very seldom ever remove the key now.

I have a puncture wound scar in my right leg from when I fell on it in my pocket at Dollywood one time.   Scared the crap out of my daughter.    She was afraid she would never see her mom again. That is another story.

I bought one of the key covers from this place:

http://www.scootworks.com/shop.cgi/page=partskeybadge.htm/SID=PUT_SID_HERE

because I wanted to disguise the key being in the ignition when the bike was in my garage. I live in a gated community but I often leave the garage door open and you never know...
