I'm riding from Houston to Lake Summerville this weekend and don't know the bestest Valk roads.  I have heard that Brenham is having a 150 year anniversity and was wondering about the traffic on I-10 West and 290.  Do y'all think that the traffic will be bad, or is it just the locals that attend these sort of things?  But, the DO have a little "creamery" there that I want to visit some day.

Routes:
I-10 to 36?
I-10 to 71, then North East on 159/237, then pic a road?

Heck, I don't know.  Someone from up in those parts suggest a good route.  I am open.
BTW, will be riding with some buddies on all different kind of bikes...

a lot of choices going out 290 depending on how much scenery you want:
290 (hop on old hempstead at Hegar road for less traffic) to Hempstead FM159 to Bellville HWY36 to Brenham

or 290 to 6, north to Navasota to 105 to Brenham, I think you will see the signs for the creamery on 105....longer but 105 is pretty nice

Thanks for the reply!  I am not familiar with that area, because I live in Pearland, south of Houston.  We are all about nicer, rather than quicker and less traffic versus traffic jams.  It sounds like I will recommend that we go out 290 to Hempstead, then HWY 6 up to Navasota, then hop on 105 to Brenham and on up HWY 36 to Somerville.

If you have plenty of time, work scenic 390 into that mix.

you can pick up 390 off of 105 west of Navasota. Catch 249 to Tomball then either 1774 to Plantersville to 105 or take 149 spur from 249 and head to 105 at Montgomery. Run west to 6. make the jog thru Navasota to 390.
