try unplugging the upper brake swt then the lower this will check the switches. next run over the wiring where you reconnected the trunk. either one or both brake swts are stuck or you have run a hot to the lights by accident.

Are you talking about your break lights? Check your break switches, or do you mean that they're on all the time, even when the keys are not in the ignition???

If you mean the brake lights are on all the time, with the bike running, then look to properly lube the bushing in the hand lever. Since I installed the Kuri GL1800 adjustable levers I have to push it froward with a finger after using it; but am sure that with the correct lube this should disappear. If you mean on without the key inserted, something very very wrong. They shouldn't be able to get power without the bike running. Fred.

my experience with the Kury levers is the same as yours....I never could get the brake lever working consistently and went back to Valk levers. It's too dangerous to worry about not having properly functioning brake lights with all the idiot tailgaters.

:)Thanks for all of the replys. The tail lights are on all the the time, key on or off . Key in or out.
The levers are stock and never been changed. All the connectors seem to be in good condition.
Wire harness is in like new condition..

Seems pretty obvious that there is more to it than having simply removed the trunk for painting.
There is only one bundle of wires that connect under the right hand cover for the trunk and tail lights.
I suggest disconnecting the wires again and see if you have a power source in any of those leads with the key off.
Continue from there with the trouble light til you find the source of the power.

I had an issue with my brake lights staying on (with ignition on that is).
I taped a washer to the tang on the front brake level and it it fixed it (for now - I am lazy ).
It appears that the small rod coming out of the electrical swith was worn a bit and it was no longer making contact with the lever tang to keep the lights off.
