Just got a tool flyer from sears and they have their 1500# lift on sale for 79.95. It is the same lift that Menards sells for 109.95. I took the sears flyer to Menards and asked for the sale price at sears. No hassle ,the main difference is that Menards has a one year replacement warranty, and sears is only 90 days. The lifts are the same . da prez

hey all , I've been called a lot of things, and everyone uses a slang name or handle ( when C B radio was around) .When I joined the VRCC, I was also the president of our local chapter of a street rod club for over three years and would sign off with " DA PREZ FOR NOW' . Since I am no longer president, I dropped the for now. I also had my street rod and trailer painted to match the Valk. I will post pictures asap. The club web sight is "Crazy T's of Northern Illinois". The web sight has info and pictures of a lot of the cars. da prez

I also saw the Sears flyer and am thinking of buying it. Anyone have any opinions of it? Good, Bad? Does it have the same lowering problem as the HF lift? How many safety stops? etc?

i have the $179 Sears lift...the yellow one on their web site for $179....and i've had issues trying to get balance points on BOTH my Runes and Valks when lifting. the rear wheel doesn't want to come up. no matter where i move the lift....i can't seem to find a good balance point. In fact, due to stability issues (and many on the Rune board have noted the same issue on THE LIFT I'M TALKING ABOUT)....i rarely use my Sears lift, and instead use an old lift i bought long ago by a company out of business. I think it may have been called Uplift? it was out of California. anyway, i use the old lift...rarely the less stable Sears lift.
again, the model i'm talking about IS DIFFERENT....but their design seems to be very similar (to the $79 model)............so............for what it may or may not be worth..........

I have a slightly different version of the one that Harbor Freight sells: http://www.harborfreight.com/1500-lb-capacity-atv-motorcycle-lift-2792.htmlThe one that I have has served me well. It did take me a while to learn to trust it (it feels unstable). and you do have to fish around for the "sweet spot" when lifting the bike. I have never used it on the Valk without the lift adapter, but I have used it without the adapter on smaller bikes with no issues. Their aluminum one is on sale for $149.99 with a coupon in the May Edition of Cycle World: http://www.harborfreight.com/lightweight-aluminum-motorcycle-lift-94715.htmlI'm thinking about getting one.

I have had a Craftsman lift like the yellow one (but not yellow) for about 3 years now with a home-made adaptor and have had no problems what-so-ever. It has 3 safety stops and has an I/S perched atop it right now and expect it to be there for a few more days. It is on a safety stop, of course. I believe that it was on sale for $89.95 at the time I bought it...JTL

I have the permanent adapter and have NO problem with lifting the bike right up. if i am going to be yanking around on it i put jack stands under crash bar, but your post makes me wonder if you are using an adapter??? If you search others have made ther own adapters pretty easily. If you lift without the adapter, i don't think you can't get the jack far enough back for proper balance. More weight in the rear on the "fat lady".

It'll be worth your time to install an adjustable stop bolt on the release pedal as well, that thing is kinda hard to let down slow without one. I'm pretty sure there are "how to's " on that mod floating around here somewhere.. .

i think Strong Eagle and Donaldcc have NAILED my problem. I do NOT have an adapter for that particular lift (i DO have an adapter for that older lift i mentioned). No doubt as you guys have pointed out, that HAS to be my issue here! Thanks for reminding me. Perhaps i can come up with an adapter? Cause i sure would love to use the Sears one. My old one...while it works, is MUCH heavier and harder to move around...and not as convenient to use. I need to get to work coming up with an adapter................. thanks for bringing that to my attention! i'll do some more research on adapters........
