I picked up a used J and M CB that's going on my 2003 standard.

I was looking at the bike and wondered if i mounted the antenna  base, at the same height as my license plate if it will work OK?

The antenna is a Firestick about  3 feet long

Thanks
Bill

If memory(lol)serves-you want a good ground and the tip of c b antennae straight up. back of bike o-k with the good ground. The only person it has to look good for is you. 2funny When you get it all hooked up don't forget the S W R meter check. Hope this helps. coolsmiley RIDE SAFE.

Make sure you have a good GROUND on it.

My original one on my Yamaha Venture, older style, I mounted it under the bike in the swing arm area.    Worked good till I ran over a road alligator.   That chunk of rubber raised 4377 with a lot of the wiring under there.

After that I made a mount off of the tour box for it.

I was trying to look cool and make people think I didn't have a CB on it.

I have the J&M radio on my Valk. I mounted the antenna on the plate as you mentioned. I did shorten the brkt. so it mounts as close to the plate edge as I could get it.
I think J&M suggests it be at least 18" from the closest passenger. Mine is close to that. I did run the ground to the fender strut ( ground is everything ).
