Hi went for a ride sat. and after putin on about 75 miles went to a friends house for bbq. after 4 hrs. tryed to start bike and nada .no cant be-- Harley riders there !!  charged battery bike started ran like sh@# .. went to wallyworld and bought new battery --Harley riders helped me install it --lot of ball busten if you know what im cookin here !! drive home and battery is so hot and smells !!  next day start bike and alt. is putin in 17.83 way too much --just changed the alt.last year ..called Ken Heming who rebuilt it last year and he said volt regulator went out --he will replace it under warranty great but i need to pull it again take it to him and then put it back in --suc#s  im not a mech.and the guy that changed the alt.last year moved to s.c. will try to find someone to help me change it again -- crazy2 dont want to deal with the stealer !!!! wish me luck i think im gona need it !!!   uglystupid2

You will also need another battery soon, as that 17+ volts did quite a number on your brand new one.

Get into dags svc manual-the job will go a little easier. Just remember to disconnect the battery before you start ANY electrical procedure. RIDE SAFE.

It is not mechanically-difficult/rocket-science... it is just (*&$%!! awkward, there's not enough
room to do what you need to do... but if you have patience, you can do it. If you don't have patience,
there's a large chance you'll take a sledge hammer to your Valkyrie after an hour or two  coolsmiley ...

Mac, in Tennessee, thinks it is easy... and he is right.. after I messed with it a while, finally I twisted it
just right and it plopped right in... apparently Mac can plop it right in on the first try...

Well found a cycle tech. by my house and he said he can swap out the old alt. and put in the new one in 1/2 hour--- charge me 40.00 --cant beat that with a stick ---he said he done alot of them on valkyries and wings --glad i called around --if this works out i will always use him --he said just call him and bring it in and i can wait for it --thanks
