I'm putting one in on the end of our road. It came with the house. I share the access with someone and they had chipped in to get the opener before we bought it.
They have a solar panel for it, and want to install it, I don't see a reason to, My new garage isn't that far away and I could just run the low voltage wire from there. IT would still have battery back up.

anyone have one?

I do. I've had it for a few years now. The cool thing is the key fob remotes are 12 volt. I have them wired in the high beam circuit on my valk and my wife's ACE. Works great!

Now there is a good Idea!

Do you run an external battery on the gate?

Mine has one on the inside as a back-up so to speak, works when the powers off. I had AC power already there when I replaced my old Stanley opener with the Mule.

We had one that came with the house we bought.  Since it was installed by the PO, I'm not sure how long it was in service.

Make sure you get a powerful enough opener for the amount of weight that you are pushing/pulling.  Our gate is HEAVY and it took such a long time for the Mighty Mule to open the gate that most of the time we'd just leave it open.  We'd only close it if we were going out of town.

It died about a year after we were in the house.  And it would beep incredibly loud if the power went out and it had to switch over to its internal battery for power.

Its a big one, and our gate is light.
