Mustang seat rivet problem
«

I have a Mustang seat on an Interstate. The seat has a rear facing latch plate which secures the seat with the latch plate placed under the retainer boss on the fender. This latch plate is held to the seat pan with 2 large rivets [steel?] . The rivets are 3/16 dia on the grip section and the head is a flattened curve 1/2 inch in diameter. Both rivets have broken and the plate is unattached. I can push the rivet grips down into the seat foam to enable re-riveting but cannot seem to locate this large rivet. Local hardware stores only carry the small diameter head aluminum rivets. Any ideas where I can locate suitable replacements?

grego.....check with either an automotive fastener store, or a heavy truck supply/parts store.

Rivets are not the only recourse you have.
You can open up the area and use bolts with fender washers in place of the rivets.
They will not be protruding or noticeable if you do a careful job.

I called Mustang customer service/repair rep and they are sending out 4 rivets to me , 2 to use, 1 to add in and 1 as spare ....they have great customer service.
