Ok, so my 97 Valk that I'm getting in the near future has it's original tires and the first thing I want to do is replace them with new ones.  I've read the excellent article on tires from the FAQ section and am leaning towards Avons, but could y'all tell me is 180 or 200 better or is Avon not the best choice.  Sorry but I'm stump dumb ignorant when it comes to Valks.  Trying to catch up.

P.S.  Let me see if I can post a pic yet.....

180 is the stock width and if you decide to use a 200 width tire you just might have to remove the nut cages just like those of us running 205 width car tires.  That's another discussion all together.

My suggestion would be to stick with the stock size for now.    Once ya get some riding whiskers on the Phat Lady, then you can experiment around with tires and sizes.

If you are talking about the 200 I think you are, that is a Bias tire, not a radial.

Me, I run a car tire and Metzler front.    Like the added width of tread on the ground with the front Metzler.   Just my humble opinion.

I'm pretty sure the correct Metz (ME880) 200 is a radial.

But I agree, I'd go with the 180 size tire.  To my knowledge the 200s (Metz, Avon, Bridgestone) all have shallower tread than the 180, and wear out faster, and cost more.  The 180 handles better (nominally), and certainly does not look skinny.
