Today I repacked my rear wheel bearings with grease. They are the original bearing with 120000 miles on them an still good.Has anybody done this before.I have the wheels off to replace the drive shaft an pinion cup.Doing a clean up an polishing of the pumpkin an maybe rims.I wanted to inspect prior to going to the Laughlin river run in Az.this mo. an glad I did .Had bad splines on drive shaft an not far from letting go.I let it go too long being sick an moving two times in one year.

Honda doesn't actually call for the bearings to be replaced at an interval (I actually checked the service manual yesterday and with a service tech). There has been discussion about whether doing your bearings as a preventative measure is a good or bad thing to do.
As far as I can tell it's up to the owner of the bike.
I did find one of my local shops had aftermarket bearing kits, $18 for the front, $29 for the rear to include all bearings and seals. Seems a good price to me.

Art, you REPACKED your sealed wheel bearings? How did you do that?

You need to carefully prise the seals out, clean and repack the bearings then press the seals back in.Not that hard. Additionally if you have the bearings out you can put the replaced seal side to the inside as extra insurance against dirt/water

Blackduck got it right. They have soft seals an being careful they can be removed an can be repacked with grease an reinstal the seal.just like new.in fact I used to work in a machine shop reparing swiss automatic screw machines an we did a packing on all new bearings before instaling them to be sure they were done right

Careful mentioning 'swiss automatic screw machines', this may get moved to the General board...
