Hi, Just curious to know if there are any members around or close to the Greenville, Spartantang, SC area? I have only seen only 2 valks around me just in passing, one the same colors as mine and one black one. Maybe I'll find one at bike night tonight, but I'm not holding my breath..I might turn blue! 2funny BTW, If you're one that don't post much, just send me a PM! cooldude

I ride a black standard, live in the northern end of Spartanburg county, and work in Greenville a little west of the West End. I've been riding to work as often as I can so it's a good possibility you may have seen me either on I-85 or Wade Hampton Blvd in recent months.

Hi John, Now that is very possible it was you on my way to Powersports. It was a black standard and I also have a 98. The other one which was the same color as mine was at Hwy 11 @ Hwy 8. Do you know anyone else that has a Valk? I'm curious to know how many of us are around. Anyway maybe we can get together and put them in the wind. I was going to bike night tonight hopefully to see a valk...but I'm scared of tornados and storms and don't like to get wet either!  2funny I am a member of the VTXOA and people from all over SC get together and have a "meet and greet". We usually eat and ride. This year they're coming from the lowcountry, midlands, then the upstate by 1:00pm the last of this month. I wished the VRCC had something similar cause I love to ride, eat and have fun just hanging out. Maybe we can put a posse together! Lol 2funny 2funny crazy2

Is Hwy 11 worth a ride? I notice it's designated a scenic hwy
in my (old) atlas.

Yep, 11 will take you to several good roads  Wink ...

Most of the roads north of 11 in Oconee, Pickens and Greenville are good...

11 itself has some nice (scenic) views from some places, especially in Greenville County, but it also
include a lot of straight kind of boring ho-humness...

You can see Table Rock from hwy 11 in Greenville County...

It is beautiful in itself and you have some beautiful scenery like Table Rock in Pickens county, Jocasse and Keowee in Oconee County, and a lot of great places off 11 if you know where your going. Hwy 11 is one long road and like Mike said very boring after a while. Just so happens we rode in that area last weekend, turned off 11 went up Hwy 178 to Rosman and Brevard, NC and beyond. I believe your avatar said you're from eastern TN. IMO it's prettier where you are. The wife and I are always going to eastern TN. and western NC. BTW, I love the color of your bike! Grin

Hey Mike,

Those are some beautiful pictures! You're gonna have to give me the name of your camera again, that's pretty cool. BTW, who was taking the picture of you coming out of that curve? Was that Ceaser's Head?

Hello from the midlands of SC. I do get up your way from time to time, may be riding to the Gowansville covered bridge park on Sunday with a couple other Valks from the midlands if I can catch up with them. Look forward to meeting on the road some day.

Some guy hangs out on 178 and takes pictures like the killboy guy does at The Dragon... I've only seen
him that once, but when I saw him set up there at that curve taking pictures, I googled for him after I
got home and there we were...

The Table Rock picture is just some stock photo, I didn't take it...

My point and shoot took this picture that day  cooldude

Wow another kiliboy- have you got his website or are you just pulling my leg?Lol!  Grin Could it be a passenger on a bike with real steady hands?, it does look close to ground level. Grin AS many times I've run 178 I've never seen a "killboy" yet! If so, was it close to Scatterbrains?
Now the next picture I recognize, had a good time for a backyard short ride!

Take care and keep the shinny side up! cooldude

Man your friend on the I/S is smoking and steaming around that curve, just a little lowerer and he'd be shooting fireworks!! 2funny

RRRRRRR you guys are making me jealous...I live in upstate also....Upstate NY that is.  I was just in your fair city last week visiting my daughter who lives on Pelham road. Did see an interstate for sale at the dealer on Wade Hampton; was just looking and enjoying seeing all the bikes out.   I love your area...my daughter and friends keep bugging me to move there; would love it, beautiful area and so is whether... in my Upstate it is 40 degrees and rainy today...have only had 2-3 decent days to ride up here all year!!!  Oh well..enjoy your ride...be careful and maybe I will be able to ride with you all.

My aunt lives out there... when I was a little boy, Pelham road was peach orchards! Can you even
imagine that now?

There's been one there for months with kind of corroded chrome in places... seem like the same one?

I've stopped and looked at that Interstate a few times. The price seems out of proportion to the condition IMHO.

Hey JP and Hubcapsc
We agree about that interstate... a bit rough for the price.  What a change Pelham road is pretty commercial now...my daughter has lived there for almost 8 years...I come down 2-3 times a year...and really see the change every few months...but it is a positive thing I guess...all the businesses up here are moving out mostly going to the states like SC.

Ride safe guys

Hey XGUY... lakehunter did catch up with me and my friend Doug late this evening and we will be headed up your way tomorrow. We think we will be able to get out of here around 10-10:30 and are planning to take I26 to Spartanburg (from Columbia) and plan to go out to Gowansville.

If you see this in time check your PM. I'll send you my phone number and you can call me in the morning if you'd like to meet up with us.
