would like to put a set driver floor boards on my 98 tourer. just dont know what set to go with and how well they will work with the shifter. i have a set of kurys passangers on the rear so it would be great to get a matching set for the front. any info would be great.
Thanks

Floor boards for the rider may or may not be a good idea for you.  Depends on how you ride.  If you like laying the phat girl over in the twisties you will hate floorboards.  (They will drag very easily)  If you are a straight line kind of rider they may be very comfortable for you.  I would say stay away from the Cobra ones, Kury is doing much better with their chroming lately

Take a look at FX6's floorboards. They are for having a second position to rest your feet, not for replacing the shift and brake pegs.

I agree with Chris, boards at the peg location will drag very early.

I have the XF6 boards and wouldn't ride without them. Having a second very comfortable position is real important on any bike (to me). They are forward and high where they do not drag.

I run Cobras, with kickshifter.  Yes they drag in hard leans, but fold up and mine are worn at 45* on the bottom.  I can keep up with any peged models, no problem.

The rider Cobras for valk are adapted from passenger boards... small because the space available is small.

The MC enterprises are much wider (and klunkier).

If you intend to use the (diminutive) OE shifter, floorboards may not be optimal.  The shifter lever can be moved a tooth or two on the spline, but with big feet/boots, it may still not be optimal.  I think a good number have used Kuryakyn Iso Wings as a floorboard compromise with good success, and they give better access to the OE shifter.

NOT a male mount, Wings w/0 ends (# 4452, and adapter #7946)

XF6 floorboards on my Rat Rod.
Not cheap, but money well spent in terms of long distance comfort.

I have installed Cobra floor boards on my Standard and have a Rattlebar's Kickshifter (not installed yet) and also want to install the Rattlebar relocation kit.
Will I run into any problems with this combination? I know about the scraping issue.
I guess my main concern is compatibility of the board and kick shifter.

Thanks in advance,

WDAN

WDAN, I have that set up.  Put it on and you're good to go.  I think I moved the shift lever up one tooth.  Also did the BigBF mod on the shifter.  Google it and it's easy to do but not really needed.

Momz, don't those boards get it the way of the shifter?  I really like the look of the floorboards and I like the idea of keeping my stock setup and having some comfortable boards but I'm worried about my size 12's accessing the shifter.

I run the cobra slant floorboards. Can't beat them for comfort on long trips, but I had to make two mods to make them work for me.
Since I have big feet I couldn't get my foot under the shifter so I welded the orig.pivot pin to the end of the shifter and put the rubber sleeve on it.
Since I love draggin it in the turns I wore a bevel on my first set of boards that actually started ripping up my jeans. So I drilled and tapped the out edge of the boards for 6mm x 1.0 and screwed the original feelers from the factory pegs into the boards.I've run this setup for about 60k now and am pretty pleased with it.

I have basically the same question about using driver floorboards on my '00 Interstate. The OEM pegs are very inefficient  IMO. I really like the way those forward mounted 'boards look. It's hard for me to tell from the pics, but is there also a heel/toe shifter kit involved?  If I can avoid a heel/toe configuration I'll be happier and just use the stock shifter. What about the brake pedal? Do you use the same one (OEM) or does that require a modification/adapter etc too?  Right now, I catch myself accidentally applying the foot brake on hard right turns! I guess my right foot just tilts down on the peg and,"dang" there goes the brake on again!. The advice on these pages have been wonderful for me to learn tons about this new gal in my life, the "heifer" that she is! So any additional input any of you have about 'boards is really appreciated. I already drag the pegs so draggin' the 'boards wont be much of a big deal to me.  Oh, BTW, great looking bike pics, but I gotta ask, whats all that white stuff piled around the sidewalks etc?.....lol  (you know why they don't send donkeys to college?....... All you'd get is a smart ass......) uglystupid2

I have the XF6 floorboards and there is no problem with shifter interference whatsoever.
I also have a 2K I/S and have tryed buth the Kury Heel/Toe shifter and the Rattlebars Kickshifter; neither worked for me. I replaced both my shifters from a CBR1100XX, bringing the shift peg closer to the pegs. And on my I/S Iinstalleg "Mick-O-Pegs"  as oppsed to floorboards and removed my highway pegs.

I truely recommend both the XF6 Floorboards and "Mick-O-Pegs. Both are pricey, however how can you put a value on long distance comfort?

thanks for the info. What are FX6 (FT6?) floor boards? Is that the brand name or a stock number. Also, I'm not familiar with the mick-0-pegs.  Can you tell me what they are also please?
Thanks again.
