Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.

On a road less traveled.

I was just reading over on the German VRCC site that, there is some A$$Hole driving around favorite motorcycle roads busting wine bottles filled with motor oil on the roads, picking out the best turns to bust them in so that when a motorcycle comes through he does not see it until its too late. It already killed a father of two this past weekend. This is apparently not an isolated incident of one road, or area but apparently several favorite MC roads in Bavaria.....
I cannot imagine if that were to happen on some of the roads in the US where we love to ride.
Sad day again for us that ride.......

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there was I believe diesel fuel poured in large quantities on certain corners on US129 Deal's Gap a few years ago, never heard if that was confirmed, if the SOB was caught if it was or anything else for that matter...

Sad, but sadly a part of life too...  Angry

I've also heard of sand and pea gravel dumped in the corners of US 129 at Deal's Gap.  Never saw it myself, so can't confirm.  Maybe Smokin' Joe has more info.

Haven't been able to find any news stories, just some forum discussions about it, and we all know how reliable that is, but...

That happened to me back in 1975.  I was riding my XL250 around a easy bend in the road near some houses when bang, I'm siding down the road on my butt.   Stopped just shy of a telephone poll.  Got up and walked over to the wet spot (oil) I didn't see cause of the shadows from the trees.  Looked down the road from were I just came and there were 2 goldwings hauling down the road.  Flagged them down and they stopped and checked that I was okay and to thank me for stopping them.  Some home owner just happened to be right there and saw the whole thing.  He came running over complaining about all the unregistered dirt bikes (2 strokes) that come screaming by.  I was registered and on a 4 banger.  I always suspected him for throwing the oil down to get at the 2 strokers, but couldn't prove it.    Just a little damage to the bike and a little rash on my a$$, so not so bad.  I did wear those jeans like a badge for a while.

I hope who ever is doing that in Germany gets caught or run over by a truck.

Happened to me 3 yrs ago near a deer lease.  Oil was poured on the road in a sharp turn.  I barely got  the bike straight and stopped after hitting it and sliding sideways.  The oil was placed there to deter sport bikes from what I learned later. A-holes idea of noise/traffic control.

There was a story going around a few years ago of locals oiling Hwy 129 in N GA. One driving a pick up. 2 in the bed. One holding a pitchfork and the other running oil down the fork tines to get some nice fine oil lines on the blacktop. They didn't want the oil to be too visible. Local Sherrif busted them. Dumb asses.

On the other hand there are crotch rockets getting clocked at well over 100mph in 35 and 45 mph zones.

O-k-spent the better part of my life driving over the road in this great country of ours. Things are tough enough out there without someone or somebody putting something on the roadway that will cause loss of traction-whether it be oil or something else. End result is still likely severe injuries or death. There is someone or somebody that is not happy with the status quo. I don't have the answer. If anyone doe's this idiocy here-we can only hope they get caught quickly and the punishment is quick and severe. If the actions by this lowlife result in someones death-needs to be handeled as a homicide-with the resulting penalities. RIDE SAFE.

It has happened on US 129 The Dragon several times both Big Al and I saw it  Sad  Killboy has also commented on it. It appears the bear/hog hunters during season don't like the bikes running that area cause they can't hear their dogs when they get on a bear or hog.
