In a previous thread, and an email, Rattler expressed that the VRCC denied membership to his wife.  I want to set the record straight and explain a few things with regards to membership and this message board.

First of all, registering a username on this message board has nothing to do with being a VRCC member.  Joining the VRCC is as simple as filling out this form:  http://members.vrccservices.com/membership/new-member.php3?ID=0001.  After filling out that form you will receive an email with your member and information about the club.  Simple as that, and there is no screening process involved.

Registering a username on this message board is a totally different thing.  We have no way to integrate our member database with this message board software.  To keep the spammers/nutcases out, and have any resemblance of control we require everyone to register a username with a valid email address.  At first the process of registering here involved an automated activation process.  You registered your username and the software sent you an email with a link to your valid email address which allowed you to activate your account.  The problem is, all these spammers have valid email addresses and know how to use the system.

The current process is this:  You register a username and it is placed in a cue for Willow and I to validate.  If you are a spammer, you get the boot.  If you are an obvious member, you get manually activated.  If your username/email is cryptic enough that we aren't sure...then you get bumped to the "Must validate email address" list and the software sends you an email with simple instructions.  This process is completed almost hourly, 24/7.

That whole system works great until your email provider thinks we are trying to send you spam.  That happens more than I would like it too.  We currently have 25 people in the "Must validate email address" list that have not responded to multiple requests by me via email.  If you are still waiting, you are more than likely on this list and we are waiting on YOU.  (and more than likely the email you were waiting on is in your spam folder)

With all that said I want to reiterate a few points.

1.  VRCC Membership and Message Board Usernames are two separate things.

2.  If you registered, and can't seem to log in because you are not activated, please, please, please, send us an email and we will get you fixed up.

I don't know how you stand it, my boss just made me order a book on php, and mysql....so I can help with projects when I have spare time....sometimes I'm sorry now I got that degree in Computer Science...I am so looking forward to retirement.

First and foremost an apology to the VRCC staff and community. Wife and I both have scoured her email and spam to find a reply, none found.  So it probably got lost in internet limbo. After a second attempt with different email address and handle same thing. Frustration led to me leaving a rant which shouldn't have happened. A simple email to the staff would have fixed this.  uglystupid2 So I will tell wife she can post pic of trike and I will stay on the I still haven't had a cigarette thread. lol

I just verified that the process was working and the emails were being sent.  I registered for a new account, then from my admin account put that new registration through the process of verifying the email address just as it would work with anyone else.  The emails did end up in my spam folder, but the system does work as designed.
