I wanted to have this discussion on Wednesday, but I was out of town, so I'll start it here:
Who's going to the Ride for Kids?  It's this Sunday, so it's time to talk.
For those of you who don't know, the Ride For Kids is a benefit ride that is held every year to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.  It's a great cause, to fund research designed to cure kids with brain tumors.  They start a ride in Humble, lead a well-designed, massive group ride around town, and then follow it up with a light lunch and program to talk about what the organization does to benefit the kids.
http://www.pbtfus.org/rideforkids/events/2011/houston.html

Now for the more mundane:
Anyone want to meet up with me and ride in together?  Last year we had a group meet at Dixie Farm and 45.  We could do the same thing again, and call that the south Houston meetup.  I'd like to have as many Valkyries ride in together as possible.  If you ride in together, you line up in the ride together.
See you there?

A few of us are heading south for this. We're going to ride in Saturday. Look forward to seeing a bunch of the southern crew there.

BJ and I will meet you at the diner at Dixie Farm and I 45.
What time do we need to have KSU?

"Registration opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 9:45 a.m. The escorted ride starts at 10 a.m. sharp, rain or shine!"

What time do you want to get there?  It takes ~45 minutes from there, so 9 would be pushing it.  8 or earlier?
Do any non-south-siders want to meet just outside so that we can all ride in together?

We sure look forward to getting together with you guys this weekend! Looks like at least four of us going down Saturday morning from the DFW area if anyone would like to ride with.

Wish I could be in two places at once - The local MS 150 will benefit from a good turn out of our DFW Valk riders. Way to go, guys! You will have a large time. Take a bunch of pics, please! ~Jeff

They want me there by 8 so I won't be able to join you.  I'm not a morning person, so  you probably wouldn't want to be around me at that hour anyway!!  See you there.....

Yep.  Decided to stay Sat night at the host hotel.  And I have to leave right after the ride -- have to get home and get ready for a class that afternoon.

I wish I could be two places at the same time, but I'll be doing the Sam's Club MS-150 (slow-speed friction zone/rear brake + extended Tridon 4-way flasher test) Saturday and Sunday.

Let's meet at the Diner in front of the Howard Johnson at 8:45.  Then let's shoot for KSU at 9.

That will put us in the parking lot around 9:45.  Registration ends at 10:30, so we have plenty of time.

See Y'all there.
My HD buddy will be with me, he's in the picture Wanderererererer posted.

My bad.  I even posted the correct times earlier in this post.
Let's meet at the diner at 745 am and KSU at 8.  Wow that is early for a weekend, but it is for an excellent cause.

See y'all at 745.

Please post here i you are planning on meeting us!

I hear you Red Diamond.  One of the kids in my sidecar fell asleep on her sister.  If we could just throw in some mountains, cooler weather and twisties, it would have been perfect.  Funny thing, though. By the time I go home up north, it was raining and in the 40's. Guess I need to be careful what I wish for in temperature.

Good to see you out there yesterday. Hope the ride home was good.

Thanks for the picture of Lola!!  She's been my corider for years, but it was her first RFK.

From an email received from Ride for Kids:

"Houston heats up the season
The 19th Houston Ride for Kids® set a fundraising record this year, beating its previous totals with $335,043 in donations for the PBTF. "

Way to go, Texas!!

Soooooooo good to get to visit with a bunch of Valk folks last weekend around such a worthy cause! Thanks to all of you that help the kids throughout the U.S. Forty rides give most of us an opportunity to experience the warm fuzzies first hand. I hope everyone will consider this your personal invitation to DFW for our 9th annual Ride for Kids, Sunday Oct. 2. Come in on Friday or Saturday and make a weekend of the festivities. The kids will thank you at the Celebration of Life after the ride.

... and if one photo is worth a thousand words, this shot of the HONDA that it took to get me to Humble for the ride when the BMW would not start should be worth a poke or two at yours truly! That is Kevin Schwantz, #34, and Ronnie Lunsford reminiscing over my '77 CB550F. ~Jeff
