Author Topic: Center piece that attaches the side covers in place  (Read 1317 times)

Can anyone help me with the knowlwdge of taking off this center piece. What all has to come off to get this piece off. I have tried almost everything and can't seem to get it out. Something is still holding it in place........please help!!!!!

You have to remove the bolt holding it to the frame on each side, the seat latch and then wiggle and pull up an forward.  There is a tab on the bottom edge that fits into a rubber grommet.

perty sure you have to unscrew teh tip sensor also from the backside

To remove it completely you willalso have to remove the lock and the tipover switch.  Just remember  how the tip switch goes back on.  Curved side down.  It will mount upside down but the bike won't start.

I've found it easier to unbolt the seat latch and unplug the tip over switch than try and remove them

Thanks for all of your help, I got it out. That's one tight fitting piece. Had to remove all of the add-on chrome to get it out. Hope I don't scratch the new paint reinstalling it.

Spray a little silicone on the grommet to help the tab slide through.  Be careful and take your time.
