Northwest Washington

« on: May 02, 2011, 12:17:08 AM »

It finally stopped raining here, in NW Washington, long enough to go for a ride. Here are some updated photos of my 2002. I bought this Valk from the original owner 2 years ago in Idaho...it had 5000 miles on the clock...23,000 now.

I tried to paint the Interstate bags to look factory installed. The bike looks better when it's not covered in dust...but dusty is more fun.

I made this engine hanger cover/control panel from 1/8 aluminum plate. Those are Gerbing heat controls and plug-ins. The toggle switch is for the heated Russell seat.

The original owner had installed Cobra pipes...after 10,000 miles...I was done with them. I bought these new take-off IS pipes from a Honda dealer in Oregon. They were cleaning out the parts room and found them in a box on top of the shelves...been up there for 10 years.

Installed aircraft landing lights to the engine guards...for when I'm flying low. I used the same Cobra housings as used on the light bar. Yes...that is the stock ugly black radiator cover...it's on the list.

I love that red/black valk.  I have never seen one in person yet.

Very nice man.

I'd love to have one to go with my Blue/WHite 2002.

Very nice.  I like the side plate you added.  Have pretty much the same lights on my crash bar.  Helps a lot at night, and everyone sees me during the day.

Maybe a lot of people are doing this functional engine-hanger-cover thing, but I'd
never thought about it before, that's a great idea and a great fabrication job....

I ran dealer-take-off Interstate pipes for a couple of years... mine had a dent in one of the
headers from where it had been thrown around in the back of the shop for a few years before
I got it... I think they are noticeably quieter than either stock Tourer mufflers, or Tourer mufflers
with triple-tips...

I don't usually see bag paint jobs that I like more than the Tourer style bags, but this stripe bag
works pretty well too, on the striped Valkyrie...

I have a 2k Tourer that I would like to install I/S  exhausts on. The Tourer pipes are a bit louder than Interstates. Nice job on the bag paint and the hangers also, maybe you could make a few more and distribute to me for publicity LOL. Like your bike.

Thanks Mike, I thought it would be different. Us Valk guys like different...some more than others.

I think my painter was getting tired of taping out my various paint schemes. I like the results...once again, it's different.
