I just purchased an Interstate gas tank for my standard. When I received the tank I noticed the threaded mount for the petcock, but also noticed another hole towards the front of the tank. Now I am puzzled as to whether or not this is for a necessary accessory to the tank. I have researched and found out that it is for a leveling sensor. Is this something that I need, or can it be capped off?
Do Interstates have a fuel gage on them that this would be used for, or what exactly is it's function?
Please provide insight so that I know what to do.

Must be you first Valk, that hole is for the sending unit that tell how much gas is in the tank, like a gas guage. Tourers and Standards don't have guages, unless you want one, you probably can cap it off.

Best and easyest thing to do is
Go to Bigbf.com and get a plate to bolck it off
and just mount it.

My 97 has an IS tank and a Motisens gauge, it is a nice feature to have if the sending unit is still in your tank.

It is the easiest thing to do.  I disagree with the best thing to do.  I installed a motosen gauge, it is nice to have a fuel gauge, when my mileage varies between 25 and 40 mpg!
