Just through I would share the moment
Monday I became a proud daddy of 4 baby coon's and one real mad mommy. Would love to keep all four of them or even just one but the better half says no. So the DNR is coming to pick them up and take them somewhere safe till they are old enough to leave with mommy. I guess them to be about 2 to 3 weeks old
I didn’t get a picture of my dog she is (German Sheppard) but when I had the little ones out on the floor one of them started walking away and she picked the coon up just like mommy would and brought it back to me. It’s like she was their mommy she stayed with them all night when they would start to cry she would start crying also
Well the DNR just left with the hole family  Embarrassed mommy still a little upset and the babies just being baby coon’s and a little on the hungry side guess everything will turn out ok

Something about shepards...  I had a large male shepard name Beowulfas a kid, when the cat had kittens, any time she left the box containing her litter, Wulf would climb in the box with them and baby sit until she returned, if any got out of the box, he would pick them up and return them to the box.  They are great dogs and unusually protective of what they think belongs to them.

Can't see the pictures on this computer, but congrats!

2 years ago when we had a bad winter here in Va. ( 2 ft. of snow) a mother coon and her 4 babies would come to the back door every evening and scratch on the door....I'd go out and give them cat food and what ever else I had on hand.....they became very friendly, even tugging on my pants leg when they wanted more food....Tracy talked to Lamont because she knew he had some hanging around his place awhile back and he told her they would just up and leave one day....and sure enough he was right, after the bad weather broke, they were gone... cooldude but we enjoyed them when they were around... One particularly hard winter on MI island where I grew up, a mother went nuts and threw all the babies from the tree hole nest.  All froze except for one we saved, eyes still closed, and my mom devised a formula and fed it from an eye dropper.  Raised to be the family pet (best ever) and had it for 5-6 years.  Rode up in the back window ledge in car trips.  Loved to play rough, and you had to wear gauntlets for protection.  Of course, he was named Rascal.

the little ones are easier to kill IMO.

Never had a lot of use for a coon, other than in a trap and selling them to the furrier.

They are cute, but they don't look like you.  I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'll bet momma raccoon is lying when she says you are the father.  Was she with you 63-65 days before the birth?  Momma should be glad rather than mad, because who knows what they would have looked like if you actually were the father!

know what  you mean never used a trap didn't and still don't believe in using traps unless you are go to relocate them some place else. Use to hunt them with redbones and 22 rifle until the price didn't make it worth skinning I have 3 pet coons had one for 20 some years and also a skunk both in the house great pets.
