There's an article about the new 6-cyclinder BMW touring bike in the June issue of Cycle World.  It even has specs and a dyno chart.

A riding bud of mine just got his. Haven't heard 'first impressions' yet, but he did do a 60 mile ride at night to "check out the headlight". yeah...
Big coin though. Ya wanna be da foist, ya gotta pay. Up here he's out something like $35K for the Teutonic Trophy. Cheaper in USA for some reason, but pushing 30K. Bigger market, perhaps.

Just read the CW article. I've got to say that right now, if I was buying a new bike (I'm not dang-it) that would be it. Beemers seem to last as well as Hondas, that's something you can't say about just any bike.

I talked to a BMW salesman a few weeks ago about the new 1600.  He was preparing to go to a dealer intro for itm in Georgia as I remember.  He said they's have a demo arriving soon, but the waiting list, which BMW cut off a few months ago, is really long.  BMW projected his orders wouldn't be filled until the Fall of 2012!  I doubt we'll see any discounts!

I'll have to ride one, and if it is a good as the reviews it may be tempting to own one at some point.  After 200,000+ miles on my 2 Valks I'm addicted to 6 cylinders, and 160 HP would be lots of fun.  I just hope they're reliable.  My old R model has had more problems than any bike I've owned, and friends with newer ones have all had a long list of troubles.  It's hard to find anything with 2 or 4 wheels as solid as the Valk.

I truly believe that the Valks longevity  is one of the reasons that Honda did away with it.

Yep, I think the Valk became Honda's GE refrigerator of old.  My first GE refrigerator lasted us over 30 years until i finally gave it away, and it was still working.  GE cheapened those appliances because they built them too good and they lasted forever.  Now, most appliances only last about 7 years.  Sad. The Valk was a lot like that...

This month's Cycle World also has a short article about a new American made sport tourer:

http://www.motusmotorcycles.com/mst-01.html

It says nothing about price but it does say that it weighs in at 500 lbs and has 160 hp and 127 ft lbs of torque.

Well Mattew called me yesterday and said the new Uber tourer from BMW is in and do I want to ride it.Pretty cool since I'm one of the first in the US to do so. This is clearley not a laid back luxo tourer ala GW.. First the ergo's are very sports tourer like, think FJR with a more upright riding position,Tall people might find the leg room to be a little snug. Brakes? yeehaa this thing can stop, Hp? 160 ponies which is condition adaptable(rain, sport etc) and the bike screems, not loud just an aggressive snarl. This bike feels like it can handle, easily flickable. One thing you need to get used to is the fly by wire throttle, very sensitive to throttle inputs. Plenty of storage, trunk easily comes off if you want a sporty day ride. Easily intergrated mp3/iwhatever hook up.800$ for their gps system which intergrates easily(ouch). I'm liking it , hell it's been a year since I've had a new bike.
