how do you get rid of the big gap when you put on 5" truck stacks

Maybe with Silly Putty [Silicone].
Just kidding.

Maybe you could float with spacers, tabs & spot tacking clamps to the OEM header to muffler cover out a half inch.
A little ingenuity, which I have none of, would help.

EDIT: I fergot the circumference of the OE cover won't match up well. Maybe it's possible to open up the can end a bit without fracturing or flaking the chrome.

Seems like they used a bell type reducer. At the top of the page you will see "Old Tech Archive".
Click on that and there will be a search bar. Type in  "Truck Stacks " and you will get a ton of reading from past posts.

Hey long time no post!

Search or check with EEZZZRIDER from up my way. He has 5" ers on his and had some kinda reducer. Not sure if it was made or a oem part. Might check with a big rig place.
