@ss.....darn J&M speaker in my helmet is acting up again.....the left speaker keeps "coming in and out"...very annoying.....I imagine one of the wires is a little loose.....the lower cord from the bike jack to the helmet connector went bad one time and the J&M folks at the Honda Hoot gave me a new one free of charge.....I'm pretty sure this is a wire in the headset bundle...looks like a PIA to take it out and try to fix it..... Sad Sad Sad......but I don't want to spend another $150 for a whole new headset.....I think that they may offer the individual parts of the system?..time to go google them up......for me, the Tunes make the ride all that much sweeter!!..... cooldude

I've got the same problem. I can usually reach up and touch the connector and it will come on.Mine is 4 or 5 years old now. I have looked and they are available as individual pcs. I imagine it comes from where I grab my lid and put it on. The whole headset stuff is right there in that spot on the left side.

I done away with the connector that attaches to the helmet.  Solved my problems.

I have had my headset close to 4 years.

Very erratic hearing on headset.  Left ear then right, occasionally both.  Touching and/or moving the upper cord seems to make differing connections.  I probably have a loose/broken connection in there also.

My cord says PAL, which is the replacement that Stanley ordered.

Will the ZAL, heavy duty one replace the PAL?  Will it last any longer for the additional $10?

Just curious.  I  get frustrated with the headset as it is currently.  Just as soon ride without it.

**  OK, basically I just sent the above request direct to J & M to get their feedback on the problem.  We shall see what they say about the two cords.

I'll be curious to see what their reply is....Mine said "Pal" on it, so I ordered the same type....

Stanley, I'll get horse whipped for this but J&M sheet is crap and has been since way back when.   I got screwed once on a intermittent loss of sound, returned it, fought like hell to get them to do anything, their excuse was abuse on my part, they did eventually replace it and same thing happened on this set.

I then switched to Cycle Comm and I always had good luck with them, when Ron was alive and in business.    He took my J&M ear piece apart, soldered the, as he called them cold solder point, and it worked for awhile.   Ron said it probably wouldn't hold as they used reject speakers and not the correct wire for the task at hand.

He passed and his wife sold the company and his franchise to this outfit.    I have gotten at least 2 helmet sets from them and to date not a problem with either one.   One set is 14 years old and been in 3 helmets, other one is in the same helmet and I use it on the Chevy Trike.

Here is a link to them,
