$15? Wrong stem or wrong vendor?

I got mine where Judd got his. Bought 4, had him mail them to me in Canada, after he phoned me for info. Total $12.00.
Rick is a retired war vet, and seemed like a nice guy on the phone. I will buy stuff from him in the future. Fred.

Some of us, just won't run the Honda valve stem. The Patchboy stem is a more dependable item and is less expensive.

i changed mine this winter, NITRO had given me two and i didn't think that the ones on there were an issue until i took the rear tire off. the original honda valve was cracked from age and would have probably blown out when i least expected it. installed one of these; and just to make sure things sealed up good, put some form-a-gasket sealent around the base. let it cure over night, feels nice and solid when i check the tire presure, doesn't wobble around like the OEM. Al.

Just had the Honda stem fail on me on a return trip from So Cal (ride report to follow). My second within the last 4 years. I guess that's not too bad after 14 years? I'll be going with the patchboy version. Havent done a valve stem replacement personally before and have a couple questions. Do you still need the plastic Honda support clip with the Patchboy? Is it advisable to use a sealant or other chemical prep product as previously mentioned by Alph? Thanks.

Personally, NO I would not use it. The patchboy unit was and is designed to seal itself with that nice rubber gasket. Just make sure the wheel surface is clean and dry so you get a good seal and DO NOT over tighten. In other words, don't squish the rubber gasket out flat, just snug it up good. Personally, I think you are asking for trouble with the sealant, but to each his own and to whatever tickles his trigger. Aw, before ya go stickin daggers in my side, what I said is NOT policy, it is just my feelings from 65 years of trial and error testing experience.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread but was currently in need of replacement as well. Thanks for the feedback, Patchboy product from Shinhopples ordered for both Valks. Now if I can just get Scott or Lady Draco to stop by and replace them for me... FYI - Patchboy direct; shipping was $16 plus for 6. Shinhopples; the price per unit was about $.05 more, I ordered 8 but shipping was under $7.00. Thanks again all for the feedback and links.

Loks like you don't need the plastic support. In fact, it looks like I will have to cut it off cause it looks like it's actually in the way of removing the cap. Fred.

The one I like has enough height to get over the mount for the plastic support.

If you're patient, you can find Patchboy selling on ebay with $5 Priority Mail shipping. Marty
