My Obsession

Coolidge, Arizona

« on: May 05, 2011, 10:25:27 PM »

Just a quick note --- My Dad came home from the hospital today (spent a week in ICU and got a Pacemaker)  He's still very weak and has a long road back -- but we are very optimistic and would appreciate your continued Prayers.  I truly appreciate each of you ---

Des

The hits just keep coming in 2011.  With things going the way they are we're almost afraid of what will come barreling down on top of us next!

As many of you know we lost Kendall's Dad last month --- after a very long illness and stroke 10 years ago.  Well to make it worse now my Dad is extremely ill.

He's been sick for quiet some time -- finally got bad enough he agreed to go to the ER on Monday -- Mom called me to "help get him to the car" --- I called paramedics instead.

Ultimately ended up air lifting him to Mercy Gilbert --- paramedics thought he had a stroke.  We have now found out that he's totally depleted of his electrolytes and the neurological efforts are pretty dramatic.  He's coming back slowly with intravenous fluids --- but now to make it even more interesting they have decided his "winkydink" heart arrhythmia (actual term used by the cardiologist) they are doing surgery in the morning to put in a pace maker.

I'm doing the best to keep the faith --- but I do know without a doubt that PRAYER is always a PLUS.   angel

When you say your blessings tonight/tomorrow and the next few days --- keep my Papa John in your thoughts ---- I would certainly appreciate it.

God Bless   angel

Prayers coming from way out here (out here over to your left) in California for you and your family.

I remember how hard it is when "A papa John" is having a rough go at it.

I lost my papa John 2 years ago now and I would hate to hear of anything less than a good out come in your case.

P.S. My fathers name really was John, and my children were not fortunate enough to be around him at all and being very close to the Grandfather on my wifes side they called my father "Popa John".

Headed up to the Church to make sure the Water Dept meeting did not tear up the meeting hall.    Usually just have to run the dry mop around a few times and it is good to go.

While there, I'll add Popa John to our prayer list.

Have faith sister, he will be slowed down a little but I'm predicting a full recovery.

Prayers and thougfht are headed your way from Iowa to all the family and Popa John's recovery.

Have a safe ride in your trip to NM.

Sorry to hear about your Dad. We'll keep him and your family in our prayers.

BTW are you sure that the Dr, didn't say Wenckebach (winky bach) ?

This is a type of heart block that causes a slow heart rate that can require a pacemaker,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second-degree_atrioventricular_block

I'm not trying to be a "Smart A$$", I've just always felt that it is important for pt's and their family members to understand their medical problems. And I also realize that Dr's don't always do a good job of educating them.

Prayers for all of you from NE Indiana.  I'm sure that things will turn out OK.

My sister is 90, has a pacemaker, and many other problems and she is still with us and mentally fine.

Lois had a similar circumstance with her electrolites becoming depleted.  Her speech was blurred, couldn't think clearly, fell and couldn't get back up.  I rushed her to the ER where they gave her fluids intrveinously.  All turned out well as we are praying that you will have Papa John home again soon.

Surgery went well --- he was doing very well last night and we expected to move him from ICU today --- however ----

Cardioligist came in to see him --- seems during the procedure one of the leads was placed incorrectly and they had to go back in today and reset it.

He's had a very restful day --- eating his dinner and settling in for the night.

Maybe out of ICU tomorrow?

THANK YOU ---- everyone for the prayers.  I truly believe the ONLY reason Papa is still here is because of the prayers.

Keep them coming --- he's doing well but not out of the woods yet!

I'm very greatful to each and every one of you!

God Bless
