I can have a party Sat. June the 4th. I hope that is good for everyone. I would like to get an RSVP and an idea of what you would like to get done or if your just coming to eat BBQ and critivise (new word) 2funny I know our main thing is to get Woody finished up. I can lift 4 bikes and have most tools. Someone can bring the football if needed or at least the sync gauges. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Matt

There's no maps out Hoghead's way.  It's wilderness; nothing but dirt tracks and critters that bite, sting, or scratch; poison ivy and stinkweed.

All seriousness aside, I"m hoping the DFW contingent will (again) meet up at Al Lambs and ride over en masse (that means "together" in some foreign gibberish, y'all.)

Upon reading Chris's post about his weekend with the kids a couple of thoughts came to mind to throw out here. That same weekend is Alley Fest in Longview. www.alleyfest.org If any of you would like to make a family weekend of it everyone is welcome to bring the kids, spousal unit, SO, or life partner, or even the family pet 2funny and stop by and hang out, have some BBQ. I have a pool. Then enjoy some other activities in E. TX.  I'm 1 hr. from the boats also. Hotel rooms are pretty cheap in Kilgore or Longview or you can pitch a tent and sleep in the yard with the dogs if you want. laugh

Also, Memorial Day weekend is Party in the Pines Rally in Longview. pinerally.com

I plan on participating.  Like ValkPilot's idea of riding out together.  I think my needs are some electical attention, seperating driving lights from headlamp circuitry, carb sync and any do-dads I think I want to add by then.  Blessings,  Woody

Hoghead,

I just realized that I won't be able to make it  Cry . Oldest daughter is graduating on the 3rd and the next day I already commited to taking the mother-in-law back to the airport. The problem here is, she doesn't like motorcycle's  Evil, otherwise I would take her on the bike and continue on to E. Texas.

Option 2,  I put my foot down and tell Peggy that she has to take her mother to the airport.  Shocked Grin. If I show up you know what happened!   Grin Grin. Do you have a spare room just in case?  Roll Eyes

I will probably be caging it.  Broke the knuckles on my left hand yesterday.  have an apointment with the ortho doc wednesday.  My number 2 and 3 fingers are stabalized and can not bend them.  Ring finger and pinky only ones i can bend.  Dont think i can keep changing gears for long period of time.  i will bring the valk on a trailor to work on carbs.  this is not what i had in mine for my retirement.

I might be able to make it.  I finally got some of the cash I need to go Darkside.  I will order CT first thing Tuesday, then call Honda and see if I can get the thrust washer, plus any o'rings I need, and maybe the wheel bearings. If I can't get the parts, I will probably show up anyway.  What time is everyone meeting at Al Lambs anyway?   Dave, can you give me a call on the cell, at your lesiure?  I have to go over the parts list with you again.  Lisa cleaned the computer desk and the list we discussed grew legs and walked off.   ???  Thanks a lot.

Looks like the Valk won't be back together in time for the wrench party. tickedoff

Finished the 4 way flashers, cruise control and rewire of the rear lights for turn signals on the trunk.  New petcock kit installed. Coolant changed out.  New radiator cap with temp gauge installed.  Back end is apart now for the new dampers, new rear end oil, new tire and general rear end service.  Then still have to check the valves and putting in a new set of plugs just for good measure.  Depends a lot on how much I get done today as to my next opportunity to ride as I am now out of the moratorium time. cooldude

Walt, if you don't get the orings and crush washer don't worry to much about it. The ones I just removed from my bike look new and I wouldn't be afraid to reuse them. I replaced them just because I had new ones.
Here are the gonna be's and the maybe's so far. if your not on this list and plan on coming please let me know. Also let me know if your going to need to lift your bike to work on it. if we need to lift more than 4 I will need to know.

Walt, save yourself some $$$ and visit a bearing house and buy a 6204 for the left rear and a 5204 for the right, just make sure they are sealed on both sides.

Walt, we have enough o-rings in the football for a few more final drive services.  I guess thrush washers go bad at some point - or break - but I've reused mine several times.  If you're thinking/planning rear wheel bearings, it would be a convenient time it do the double row mod, if you're interested.  I have a couple of spacers turned down and ready to go, but it will cost more to purchase two 5204 bearings instead of one each 5204 and 6204.

Software says it's 115.5 miles and 1:44 from Al's to Hoghead's.  [inside joke font]Given 5_19's & Valkpilot's affinity for the Starbuck's in Terrell, it will be at least a 2-hour ride.[/inside joke font].   Cheesy

Looking at the ambitious list of work to be done, I suggest a very early meetup/KSU - like 0630 meetup with tanks full by 0645 (there's a Race Trac around the corner) and KSU 0700.

Yes sir it sure does. I think maybe 2-3 hours of sleep at best. This makes a 1000 mile IB a piece of cake, have to try the 1500 sometime if I pull this off. Off course grandma can drive!
