I'm still not convinced that major hassan was just a kook with a gun.  this is wikipedias version of the connection with anwar alawlaki  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anwar_al-Awlaki

however I may be inclined to say that the killing of George Tiller by a kook with a gun (Scott Roeder)might be an act of terrorism. maybe Roeder intended to strike fear in the hearts of abortion doctors.

what do you think?

It is not uncommon for people who go on a killing rampage to have contact with radical political or religious groups.  I am not aware of an official definition of terrorism, but it seems to typically include mass, indiscriminate killings.  To shoulder, aim, and fire a rifle at your victims is more personal, so I don't think it is considered terrorism.  Beyond tactics, terrorism is designed to strike mass fear in people.  The Fort Hood shooting was localized, and most civilians and others off base didn't feel threatened, as was the case with Dr. George Tiller.

According to our Homeland  Security Secretary,  Janet Napolitano, we no longer have acts of terror they are now "man-caused disasters". It seems that the term "terror" is 'imprecise and fear mongering'.  It is probably also hurtful and judgemental.  These people are morons. I just don't understand why I have so little faith in the government. Roll Eyes

you may be on to something, what is the definition of terrorism?  I thought I had a good grasp of it....

I think they backed away from that 'man caused disaster' garbage, they've been catching alot of grief about it. after the times square bomber they fired the 'inteligence czar" (I don't know what his official title was) name of Blair. I heard his exit speach he was lamenting that there was no interagency cooperation any more 'especially from the CIA'. that part made me listen, that would be the same CIA that this administration said it wanted to try on war crimes. it'll never happen.

I go through the southwest regularly, people down on the border are prisoners in their own homes. people have left for a vacation of as little as a week and got home to find it was just a shell. they even took the toilets, light switches, and wiring, its amazing.

we never have ended the hostilities with North Korea. good point
