American by Birth, Southern by the Grace of God.

Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: May 15, 2011, 04:07:22 PM »

I had already called last week to cancel my reservations thinking I would be working all weekend. Saturday morning I called Chrome Dome ( Thom ) and had him check and see if they had any rooms left. I found out a couple things on my ride down to the highest point in Alabama ( 1 ) It's 261 miles from my garage to the top of Cheaha ( 2 ) I can lay down some miles when running alone. This also was the first time I've ever took the " fastest " way as over the years of going to Cheaha I've rode with several other bikes taking the scenic route and making a great ride out of just getting there.

The memorial to Werner from Germany with a member of his family cousin Angie who Tim returned the flag Werner had gave him several years ago when he attened Cheaha.Thom also said a few words about his trip to Key West last year with Werner....Rest In Peace Werner .

Thanks Tim and Sherry for doing  Cheaha in 2011 ....I always enjoy the event and the folks that attend  cooldude

Yeah I can here it now.

Hey Joe your buddy is laying out under that big tree and it's raining.

Real Buzz Kill for sure.

But thanks to all the kind folks and my buddy SmokinJoe, it turned out I just had a duoadinal ulcer and the hot sauce hit it and  kablooey.

It flaired up again 6 months after that and I had to ride home one hand on the belley(IT"s A BIG BELLEY TOO) and one hand on the bars.

Thank God for Prilosec.

Just couldn't make it this year - glad a large time was passed.

I just read, with great sorrow, of the passing of Werner.  Must have happened when I was in Africa without internet.

What happened?  He will be greatly missed.  RIP brother.  Cry Cry Cry

the lady next to me in the picture is Angie....Werner's cousin. She spent an hour or two up top with us.

The weather was GREAT. it only rained ONE time....friday...for about half an hour. No rain friday night....no rain Saturday at all....

I had more down time than past years....with less work....due to our numbers being down. So for me it was kind of a nice change of pace.

Thanks to all who came for making it fun for the rest of us!

TimBob,

As always the Cheaha Rally was great! Napper and I had a large time, as did the rest of our bunch... Thanks for all you do to make this one of my favorite gatherings. No one who has never put one on can appreciate all that goes into making such an event seem so effortless and and flawless, but most of us do know that it is considerable... and that's why so many of us don't attempt it ourselves!

You are particularly good at planning and organizing, coordinating, delegating, and keeping an eye on minute details... and it really shows in the easy way things always flow... And, there is an innocous, almost unnoticable blend of tasks, timing, scheduling and coordination that couldn't happen without careful and considerable foresight. You are remarkable, to make an obvious point...

You also have stamenia far beyond that of most folks I know, and particularly yours truly!!! This was the eleventh Cheaha, if memory serves, and that's about ten more than I would have wanted to ever tackle!!!! There are also the many Rune rallies you've done in those years, along with DOTS and Inzanes too. Congrats on making a success of taking a good idea and turning it into the long lasting, fun, annual event many of us look forward to. I appreciate ya, dude!!!
