So our local SCRC has a dinner run tonight and who do I meet? Baron!  He had ridden the sexy black and red IS Valk with Scott up to Amarillo.
Saw some chrome pieces that I did not know existed.

Nice to meet ya Baron!

We visited, short ride, good burgers, more visiting.  Glad you came up!

About the only thing that did not have chrome on the engine was ignition wires, and the black strapped carb clamps.
He has the chrome cover that covers the sparkplug seals.

Evil You know Kyriakan <sp?> sells a chrome cover for those clamps.  Or is it a chrome covered clamp? Now I have to go look again!

Sorry for the late post but I have been running around like cray since I got home.  I got some good news recently and I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be working again soon.

It was great meeting you last week and I had a great time visiting with everyone.  I hope to make it out there again.

Here is a link to pictures from my trip.  BTW, we ate at a place called the Lone Star Steakhouse on the way home from Palo Duro Canyon and they had a good steak.  I took 3 pics at that place and two have a big white dog in them.  Maybe a good place for a dinner ride.  I will check with Scott to see if he has an address.

Lone Star is one we have ridden for dinner.  It is a popular stop with bikes.  They have a ribeye for 2 that is a 20 oz steak served with 2 sets of sides.  The man knows how to grill a steak.

I forget the owners name but he was a real nice guy and he took good care of us.  He is a marine and we gave him one of our welcome home patches.  It was kind of funny to walk into a place out in the middle of nowhere and the first thing they asked us is if we had reservations.

What, reservation?????

They had two parties going on that night so that is why they asked.  Hopefully we can stop there next time I make it out there.

Very nice pix, Palo Duro Canyon is on my list of trips I'd like to make. Sure wish you would post your route, those are some beautiful hi-ways and scenery. Thanks for posting.

I was just along for the ride but there is only one rode in and out of Palo Duro Canyon and that is SR-217 to SR-P5.  P5 is a park road that goes into the park and loops right back to the entrance.  The cost is $5 per person, camping maybe extra.

As for Caprock Canyon, we never went into the park, we just took a scenic route around it on our way home.  We took SR-207 to Silverton.  There we we took SR-256 heading north.  At the junction with SR-70 we made a right heading south to Matador, TX.  We drove into Matador and grabbed some lunch.  From there we headed east on US-62 to US-70 onto Vernon, TX.  Once we got to Vernon we jumped on 287 and headed home.

You can check out this route using the google map.  Hope this helps.
