we were at a gas stop in West...... and got a call from Clays shop... their installer is sick and they won't be able to hook up our cb;s.... I told them I would come by this evening and get them and hook them up myself......  they said it was technical and they need to do it.....  So leaving a day early and a night on the road to get cb's... and they tell me it's technical????  A hot... a ground and a ant...... yeah they may need ta check the SWR's..... We want the cb's..... but I am seriously thinking of blowoing them off...... We will swing by there in the morning and see what they say...... Oh  ...btw.... they said I couldn't get them today because the didn't have them yet......  Startin to think the sick tech was an excuse......
We will have a face to face tomorrow......  I will go in with as good of an additude as I can raise.....  but don't EVER tell me I can't hook up a cb......  he may have  just lost a $2000 sale......  didn't know his economy was that good.... lucky him....

FB and I were really wanting cb's....  but that's small potatoes.... we get to see our Friends from the Northern climes....!!!!!!!

I'm sure yall will enjoy your trip just fine without CB's. Just try to keep Mrs. FB within waving distance, if you let her lead, that Valkyrie may be another project when yall get back home.

Sounds like he is stalling. Probably been better to tell you truth the first time.

I have been installing car stereos, cb's, and anything else I want seems like forever. Some are harder than others, but just take patience and skill. Somebody usually has a SWR meter sitting on a bench from back in the CB craze dayz. I know I do! Still have a 21 channel Cobra sitting on a shelf.

Disco, 5_19 and myself were at Clay's a couple of weeks ago and he said he had just fired his two installers and was completely backed up!

You can do the install yourself, just follow the instruction manual. That's what I did and it worked fairly well. Went back to them to get the antenna and radio tune (modulation and for max output). That took about an hour. From what others have told me it works really good now.

Got to Clay's at 0930...... the installer kid was there....he putted around for a couple hours, then went home......Probably a good thing!!!!!!
Clay jumped in there and got both our bikes done!!!!! with the cb tune up and installations.....  He even rigged my stereo system so it will play through the headset..... and turn off the speakers in the fairing......
Sorry about the dispursion from yesterday..... but it didn't seem to be going in the right direction......Clay put on his overalls and got busy.... and did a GREAT job!!!!!!!!  I happy to admit I was wrong!

Sorry we missed the dinner.... but we did get to see 5-19!!!!!! He came by Clay's as I was putting the bike back together and Clay was working on the helmets....
  Thanks for the visit TJ!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that the same Clay's at the milemarker 340??  or 370??  I thought they were closed down.  I've had CB work in my 18 wheeler at the one behind the Love's in Ranger.  It's been a few months since I've been through there.

Glad the owner stepped up and dug in.  Hard to get good help now days.  Not enough young persons interested in real work. My son works at Best Buy and the install guys that they WANT to keep are the best paid employees in the store.

The truth of the whole thang was bound to come out sooner or later. I'm thinking size does matter when it comes to installations of at least a couple of types! Can you believe the size of HotGlues' Johnson???

I think BnB Tom figured the microphone would be a good accompaniment for the HG's horn.  Wow, even that didn't sound like I meant it to...   Roll Eyes
