May is Motorcycle Awareness Month and this Sunday, May 22nd is Biker Awareness Day (BAD).

Here in the Austin/CenTex area there will be a "BAD" gathering and photo op 9:00AM at Barton Creek Square Mall.  Some groups are planning rides afterwords.

If you or someone you know has had a run-in with an inattentive driver you should try to be there.  I recently attended a funeral for a fellow biker killed by an inattentive driver not two miles from my home.  So, this year's BAD is personal...church won't mind waiting.

This is from last year -- something like 250 bikes showed up!...

Always wondered what "BAD" meant.

For those who are going and want to make a CenTex VRCC showing:  A few of us are meeting at Magnolia Cafe on South Congress Ave.  Kick stands up between 8:30AM and 8:40AM.

Breakfast will take between 30min. and 45min., so count backwards on your arrival time if you ride in hungry!

See you there and safe winds! Smiley

Had a great breakfast with Charlie. Met loads of new people up at the mall and after telling tall tales for awhile, we went on a leisurely ride thru downtown Austin, past the capital, and then down to south Austin where more lies were told. A Wonderful day!! Grin

sorry I missed it. Today was a bike maintenance day. New coolant and final drive oil. Shock bushings should be in Tuesday. New front rotors and pads on order. I hope they arrive before I leave for Tucumcari on Thursday.

Pretty fun morning starting with a nice ride into town and then an early Breakfast with Greg.  After stuffing ourselves we headed over to the "BAD" meet up sponsored be the South Austin Motorcycle Enthusiasts.

Had a pretty good Valkyrie turn out...four total...

Not nearly as many bikes as last year, but still a pretty good turn out...

We all took a ride through down town...

City Hall...

Final destination in South Austin...
