Why would anyone shave a cow like that?

Broussard, Louisiana

« on: May 19, 2011, 09:00:05 AM »

Weather was just too awesome.  I finally finished up some of the honey do's that Red had planned for me and felt that all work and no play was making Strider a dull boy.  Finished up the back yard and finally finished up the front...Had to get the city to come 3 times to pick up limbs and trees that I had cut back or removed.  Red was finally happy with the yard, so it was PLAY TIME!  I feel the need - the need for some speed....

I called Hard6 to make sure everyone felt up to a visit by an outlaw and it was cool, so I was so pumped that I was slurping coffee before the sun came up and was on the bike before Red left for work.

Gassed Traveller up and took some two lanes (adding some time as I shot here and there to avoid fresh tar they were laying down all around Ridge) and got on the I-10 Superslab in Duson and shot west over to Lake Charles.  Stopped for a smoke and checked again that everyone was up for an outlaw visit - "Come on Buddy".  Stopped in Lake Charles and picked up some pastries to bring with me and when I got to the casa de Hard6, I was met with hugs and hot coffee - life is good.

Hard6, Ms Mary and I sat around for 4 hours telling lies and man, the smells that were coming from the kitchen were awesome - seems like Ms Mary had worked all morning making a "light lunch" for a gypsy friend.  You will notice there is no knife - none needed.  All you had to do was look at the pork chops closely and the meat would fall off the bone.  Best chops I have ever had - don't tell Red. (The proverbial food shot).

Wonderful lunch with fresh home made cookies and lots of fresh coffee.  Life just don't get no better.

After about 4 hours, I had to leave with a full belly and an even fuller heart.  There was a baseball game that evening and I had to go see the youngest grandbaby play, so with many hugs, I suited up for the ride back.  Hard6 asked if it was cool for him to share some wind with an old friend and Ms Mary said something like, "I'll knock you in the head if you don't..."

So, we rode around some country roads and then up to old Hwy 90 and over to Jennings together where we had to finally part ways.  "Billy and Wyatt" together again in the wind - was most sweet.  Life was definitely good!

It was good to share the wind again with an old friend (80 miles or so) and to spend some time with two great friends.  They are doing great!  It does the heart good to spend time with these two fine folks - just don't get no better.

So, back to the house with a final hug and a honk and a wave as we parted ways back at I-10 and I superslabbed it back home.  A great day!  Got in about 200 miles of sweet, needed wind and 80 or so with my old riding pard.

Went for my pre operation appointment yesterday for the EKG and blood work.  Everything is set for Friday.  I asked and there will be no way, unfortunately, that I will be riding again in a week, so everyone pass a VERY LARGE time at Tucemcari and Timbrwolf's Q in the woods next week.  Sure wish I could have pointed Traveller in one of those directions - just ain't gonna be - unfortunately.  Safe winds everyone!

I'm looking forward to getting the Valk put back together and riding down to see Bama Red.  I have never met or ridden with him but know he is a good man with a good family.  I know how it feels to be able to be with those you care about.  Bikers seem to know more than anyone the joy of friendships!

Warren, how's Ms Mary doing these days?  Good you got to spend some time with those folks and some time on the road with H6. I'd sure like to get out to Lutcher for a visit with my daughter. If I do, I'll try to make if over yonder...been too long.

Warren,

Great story, as always... I appreciate the update on JP and Ms Mary, too... Like you, I also have a special fondness for that couple!!! I didn't know about your upcoming 'procedure', but best of luck with that... We'll miss you in Tucumcari, but getting all fixed up is waaay more important, so you've obviously made the right call... Again, best of luck... we'll be thinkin' 'boutcha...
