Touring Sport, in Greenville, SC, has a BMW K1600GTL demo bike.  Man, that thing is awesome!  Every gadget you can imagine is on that bike.  Should have taken it out and demo'd it, but didn't.  I didnt realize you can set the bike for "Road" which restricts the HP to 100hp, or to another setting which unleashes the 160HP.  For the demo rides, they keep it at 100.  When you sit on this bike, it seems much smaller than a Wing, and it is so much sexier...Got to wait a few years so the bugs can get worked out of it and then win the lottery.  They have already sold out of their allotment of 7 bikes, and these were all sold on pre-order.  None have arrived, as of yet.  They can't even take any more orders until the end of the year.  Also, I found a 1998 Red and Black Interstate that looks to be in good shape.  Hang tag is $9400.

The EURO market K1600s will be limited to 100HP. The K1600s to be sold in the United Arab Emrites will have 230HP.

Southeast BMW in Canton MI had an open house last Saturday and a truck load of GTLs and GTSs for demo rides.

My wife and I could not demo these bikes as we were working the MSF/ABATE booth.

Not all Euro K1600's....just those sold in France will be limited to 100hp(as are all motorcycles in France or so the interweb sez.).  A reflash of the ECU, gets it back to 160hp.

230hp in the UAB?  Doubtful, and I can find no evidence that its true.

I saw one at the local BMW shop the other day.  It had the low seat on which made the seat to peg distance too small.  The seat was so low it made it feel like sitting in the bike rather than on it.

Talked to a nice salesman at BMW of Denver.  They are sold out untill the Fall of 2012.  I'm not surprised considering all you get for the price.  If Honda doesn't seriously update the Wing by the time BMW eliminates the backlog, there will be a lot of converts.  I'll probably be one of them.

Did it feel like 160 or 100 HP?  I hope it isn't a company policy to restrict them all to 100 HP for test drives.

They rode with me so I could not nail it but it had some power and then I rode a R1200. Also a very nice bike it felt more like a motorcycle where as the K1600 felt smaller
